..I’ve looked at the ‘bleak service’ thread Ricky….went through it… at first I thought Mr Davies reborn was something like seeing Frankel return to the track, only to find that he is now a claimer… he didn’t seem himself at all..
…however, later posts were more like he used to be… don’t know what to think.
no idea about Mr Pilsen originally, but I recall some names of the time like ‘turtle’… ‘Nick Hatton’.. and ‘tooting’… ‘turtle’ might be a possibility…?
…I also remember these people who I used to quite like.. Suedehead, Swallow Cottage.. and empty wallet.. I don’t think he liked me much but I never let that get in the way..
..I remember when I joined here 10 years ago, there were lots of bust ups… between Mr Davies and a Derek Burgess who I think wrote from Germany… maybe he’s passed away.. Burgess also upset Mr Potts at one point and Alan left over it… also a Chompy Draw Boy who had the trouble with ID…
..can’t remember any others off hand… oh. there was a young lady who wrote of French racing called ‘Karly Flight’ and I always thought that was today’s ‘Liz Price’ who appears on ATR… don’t know for sure, but I felt it was at the time..
was ‘jilly’ a man or a woman..? I never did find out for sure..
..thank you Drone…lol…I remember that well… and hello to you all again…it’s been some time…glad to see you’re all alive and kicking..
..I’m not sure I know Mr Pilsen, other than who he used to be..a Tor Mentor I think..and some other previous…. I think he lived in Devon…we used to have some nice chats… Mr Ken Conundrum used to make me laugh… but not seen him anywhere for a long time..
…I miss Kingston Town…we used to have lots of fun…but like most ladies probably all on Facebook these days…
..I note a Mr Davies is back…would this be the same one do you think? he seems to write differently.. but we all change..
..except gamble of course…. he just goes on forever…

Ugly Mare had something in common with Ugly Ken
They were both keen on greyhounds
and she was last seen coming out of trap 2…yeah, but she won though…
Ugly mare ….nuff said

..but you haven’t said anything… but then, cornflake posters rarely do…

She looked a non-stayer today, she was ridden from the front and over the 7f I thought it would be hard to get home in the soft ground. Perhaps sprinting will be her game but I can’t see her being a classic filly after today’s performance.
…I agree with that.. I’m disappointed she isn’t taking more after her sire..I thought the longer trip would suit.. you would also think though that Rouget would have known she was a doubtful stayer and advised Soumillon to ride more conservatively… we rarely see one make all the running over that 7f at Longchamp….
..I still like her though.. and like to think there’s a group race in her somewhere…
..bit disappointing that…she looked to be going so well too…perhaps a return to 7f and better ground might suit High Celebrity…
We were told that the horse is named after Ivor Wood, who was the animator for the TV series The Magic Roundabout.
..well, that’s a relief… I had wondered if it referred to something a little more risqué…lol
..Ivawood was rather good today… I like the way this one keeps galloping..no sign of stopping…
..yeah..I suppose she does look a bit small now you come to mention it…having another look… the opposition has dropped away for Sunday’s Longchamp race.. Fabre has pulled out Al Naamah and De Treville… so Sivoliere is still up against a few previous winners but none from big stables..can’t wait to see how she gets on – I do hope she goes on from here…
…going change at Newmarket, but still really looking forward to High Celebrity…as are many others it seems…Fabre states aims are possibly Prix Morny and Cheveley Park if she comes through this…if she does, I have a feeling some people will be getting the cheque books out…don’t you..?
..yes, I was just going to post that…and I’m very pleased to see this… unusual for Fabre to bring over a 2yo this early I think..?.. I highlighted her earlier on this thread with the video of her maiden win…against probably very weak opposition but nonetheless, she could have won by half a furlong…
… it’s a shame that Cursory Glance and Tiggy Wiggy are not running… but we should see what this filly is made of… 3rd fav for the 1000G already…and I’d like to see her favourite after Thursday…and prove the RPR rating, where she is 12lbs below Al Naamah, which can only be pure guesswork – all wrong..!..were they all drunk..? pity the commentator…lol…
..he is…although by Oasis Dream..he still needed all of this 7f to grab second on the line, in the Prix de la Piste Rodosto at Chantilly.. behind filly Isis…. the horse he beat for 2nd place, with the white face and noseband, is Duquesa Penguin… formerly trained over here – down the field in the Brocklesby… but now trained in France and last ran in a claimer….so the form here is a bit suspect… but De Treville shows some promise for longer trips I think… he’s with red sleeves, coming late …

Ugly Mare, do you know of any video footage from Sivoliere’s races? I haven’t seen her running yet.
Al Namaah is supposed to be Marcel Boussac bound long-term and it might be a slight concern to her followers that Andre Fabre does not appear much in the list of winning trainers of that particular race.
..no problem… in the first race, a 5f maiden at Maisons Laffitte… she easily beat a horse that finished 4th in the Gr. 3 Prix du Bois the other day… she does all her best work at the end…
..in the 2nd race the Prix Pawneese over 6f she just quickened clear to win going away from a poor field although one in behind went on to win recently… both these early season races are little better than claimers it has to be said… but it’s the way she quickens and distances herself from the others, which for a Sea The Stars filly, just seems to be one of immense promise… we shall see.. it’s surprising she was brought out to race so early in the season, to be honest…just to pick up a couple of mediocre sprints…

yeah… Fabre not too hot in the Marcel Boussac… one winner and a few placed in the last 20 years or so…. I’m not convinced Al Naamah will have enough speed for this race… much more a staying type seems to me, like her sister [Was]…and wouldn’t be surprised if he has quicker ones at home…
..a filly highlighted earlier on this thread..Andre Fabre’s Al Namaah… is entered in the 1400m Prix Roland de Chambure on Sunday 13 July… Fabre also has De Treville in this, a colt beaten by the unfortunately named filly Isis…first time out…
…of Fabre’s two, it will be interesting to see if he runs Al Namaah – I hope he does actually…as she is likely to come up against a filly I highlighted on another thread about Sea The Stars..called Sivoliere..now unbeaten in 2 races having toyed with the opposition last time…as like her sire, she promises to be better the further she goes……I thought she might be bought by one of the bigger owners, but she was sold sure enough, and is now owned by Marc de Chambure..who presumably is related to the person in the race title here..
…a fascinating race for two year old interest, if they both show up…
..not a patch on ATR for covering the Royal meeting…. Matt Chapman was brilliant in the booth for this… plus Cattermole/Weaver/McCririck etc… at the course…
much missed…
June 22, 2014 at 21:36 in reply to: Big blow for Channel 4 Racing as Derby only pulls in 1.5m #483722..blame the sponsor…I think they have a lot to answer for… they usually do…
High Celebrity…trained by Andre Fabre…. winner of a 7f maiden unraced filles the other day…
…I expect she will be bought by..and probably ruined by…you know who… before too long…
… see what you think..

…I should add that the time for this race was over a second faster than the colts equivalent earlier…
..well the 2 that ran today weren’t up to much… very disappointing…although Stars of the Sea looked in with a winning chance for a time there I thought…
…Hadaatha and Munjaz, his recent Newmarket winners look at least a bit promising…. the Aga Khan has one in France called Vazira, who won first time out recently, a modest 10f maiden on polytrack at Chantilly… hardly looked out of the top drawer…
…which is why I’m taken by this 2yo filly above, as she’s far too well bred for a race like that.. if she was trained in England we’d be talking about the Albany Stakes I think……Sea The Stars current fee is 85,000 Euros, which is not as much as I thought actually…still has it all to prove…
