…if anyone is missing this horse, or following his record as a sire… then you might be interested to view this very minor 2yo maiden race today from Maisons-Laffitte…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jl0n03f-RY
…Sivoliere, ridden by Soumillon for JC Rouget…
[5th from the right in the stalls]…what surprised me was the sire getting a 2yo winner over this distance, and quite impressive too… what a turn of foot there towards the end…. probably a poor maiden, this race rarely throws up anything much… but this will be a filly to follow I hope… the dam was a miler… it’s surprising he’s bred one to win over 5f…
…see what you think…
April 22, 2014 at 22:01 #476585Sea The Stars also has two contenders in the Derby Trial at Epsom tomorrow. It’s a big race and a big season for the sire, who could see his fee slashed dramatically if he can’t at least land a few group races this season.
April 22, 2014 at 23:36 #476592..perhaps a little disappointing so far, quite a few of his seem to lack a change of gear…. plodders if you like… which is why I’m rather taken by this French filly.. early days but I hope she steps up in trip next time…
…what on earth is happening to British racing..? at Epsom tomorrow, as you highlight.. we have the Investec Derby Trial, but this is now 10f.. there is no Oaks trial and the traditional classic trial meeting in May no longer exists it seems… that’s such a shame… they must be hoping ‘Moontime’ doesn’t win tomorrow…as the winner gets automatic entry into the Derby…. Moontime is a gelding…
…in that case, I hope it wins…
edit:…whoops..my error… mixing it up with the Lingfield trials…lol…I’ll go back to bed now…
April 23, 2014 at 18:46 #476647He is starting to get winners, but doesn’t seem to have a headline horse yet. His yearlings were more or less holding there price last year, but unless that headline horse appears a few breeders may be getting a little nervous.
So far his better horses look to be fillies.
Currently, it would be a big surprise if his fee is not at least halved for next year. Would be curious to know how big his book is this year and what the quality is
April 23, 2014 at 21:25 #476664..well the 2 that ran today weren’t up to much… very disappointing…although Stars of the Sea looked in with a winning chance for a time there I thought…
…Hadaatha and Munjaz, his recent Newmarket winners look at least a bit promising…. the Aga Khan has one in France called Vazira, who won first time out recently, a modest 10f maiden on polytrack at Chantilly… hardly looked out of the top drawer…
…which is why I’m taken by this 2yo filly above, as she’s far too well bred for a race like that.. if she was trained in England we’d be talking about the Albany Stakes I think……Sea The Stars current fee is 85,000 Euros, which is not as much as I thought actually…still has it all to prove…
