    ‘He’ll go on improving’ – Evans investment paying off as Rohaan seals hat-trick

    David Evans did a shrewd bit of business when he snapped up Rohaan for 20,000gns at October’s horses in training sales, for the youngster has pretty much paid for himself already and there could be much more to come.
    Rohaan’s win in the £10,200 nursery was his third of the month, and while his mark had already climbed from 55 to 73 he won this £10,200 race with plenty in hand, partnered for a second time by apprentice Darragh Keenan.
    Evans, who was watching from home, said: “I was at the sales and had a look at him because I trained his half-brother Dougan [won seven races for the stable and peaked with a mark of 100]. I watched his two previous races and they were on turf in soft and heavy ground, and he ran well for a fair way.
    “The previous connections obviously didn’t think a lot of him, but he’s got size and scope and I can’t fault him really. He’s now won on three different tracks, one straight and stiff, one right handed and now one left handed, and I’m pretty sure he’ll go on improving for a while. I think he’ll be fine on grass, but I’m going to take it steady.”

    I’ve had several ‘Safer Gambling’ emails from firms this week where I’m restricted to getting only a paltry amount on. I’ve never played their casino or arcade games but do play free ones when they are offered in an email. Earlier this week five free Coral spins won me £1.49 which I then tried to place on an 11/4 chance but was met with a ‘Maximum stake is 75p’ !!! I despair to think what the founders of these old established firms would say if they could see what has become of them.

    Once you’ve been restricted on an acoount that’s the end of it as far as getting anything like a bet on. Forget about it and open one in your wife’s name or father’s etc and get the matched £100 free bet opening bonus. I’ve been through probably twenty five or so Bet365 accounts being restricted and betting on ‘ virtual speedway or netball or whatever’ will not keep an account unrestricted. If you’re taking early prices and consistently beating SP you’ll be restricted, whether winning or not.

    Prague has a nice little course just on the edge of the city, Velká Chuchle. Entrance is around the £5 mark and easily accessible by bus, about 10 minutes, from the metro station Smíchovské Nádraží. Taxi from city centre probably around a tenner. I see they have four meetings in the calendar for April

    Thanks again Potato, found the rule you quoted regarding clasified stakes
    139.1 All weight allowances for a horse are cumulative unless otherwise specified.
    139.2 Fillies and mares shall, unless the Authority directs otherwise, receive the following allowances

    139.2.1 5lb in respect of a flat race which is not a flat Pattern Race, is not a flat Classified Stakes or is not a Rating Related Maiden Race;
    139.2.2 3lb in respect of a flat Pattern Race;

    Another odd one in the 6.00 Doncaster, The Jean Genie not in receipt of a fillies/mares allowance.

    ‘Weights 3yo fillies 8st 12lb; colts & geldings 8st 12lb; 4yo+ fillies 9st 4lb; colts & geldings 9st 4lb’

    Thanks Potato. You’d think they’d make a mention of that in the race conditions.

    I won’t use Skybet any more, only allowed to have a 4 digit password, and the last time I placed money into account from my Skybet registered credit card I forgot to put the three digit security number into the payment form, however the payment went through immediately without it. I deregistered the card with them and haven’t used them since or intend doing so. A pity as they will sometimes be be a stick out price on one I want to be on.

    Would be far better concentrating his talents to sports like darts or wrestling than to the sport of kings, but hell bent, unfortunately, on lowering the prestige of racing.

    “So, now that we have HD TV, one would have thought that paddock footage would be an ideal use for this splendid technology”

    Might well be the case ………as soon as we have 3D TV.
