Listening to Chinese Way – Level 42 over and over again as I’m trying to master the irresistible and hypnotic bassline on my Squier Precision Japanese bass guitar

Best sports bios I have read

Leo Mckinstry’s bio of the Charlton brothers, his bio of Geoff Boycott and his bio of Alf Ramsey. I don’t share his politics but he’s very good with bio’s, outstanding really.

I’m pretty sure this was a Group 2 in the late 80’s when i began following the sport and I believe it should be again, take the favourite out and it is a very poor looking group 1.

Lockinge downgraded to Group 2 Newmarket’s 7f Challenge Stakes in Oct upgraded to Group 1, changes I would make.

About the race lay of Aqlaam.

PS Henry wouldn’t run Twice Over in last years guineas because he wasn’t though to be a miler, very interesting that he as a 4 year old is running over mile now.

An anachronism thankfully seemingly gone but to be fair they were never as offenive as that ridiculous Newmarket Whip or whatever the heck they called it.

This thread looks like being a Pilgarlic/Peaty Sandy style stayer just like the Clare Balding and An Apology threads were.

I own the 1986-1991 form books and so I went and looked it up and indeed Hallgate won a race in 1987 for Tel Ramsden but by then Alan Bailey trained the horse.

When I was getting into the sport in 1986 there was a a Sally Hall trained high class horse called Hallgate that I believe ran in Dancing Brave’s guineas though it was a sprinter, may have been Terry Ramsden owned as well is this the same Sally Hall.

It’s almost a snobbery the way some trainers treat the media and us outsiders who follow the sport.

I read somewhere that many years ago Stoutey tried to get a job with the Beeb as presenter for horse racing but it went to Julian Wilson instead if that’s true then it’s all the more puzzling why he is the way he is.

Definitely comes across as arrogant and lacking in people skills and a common touch. That’s why him writing for the Daily Star is a bit incongruous, Jamie Spencer and the Daily Star doesn’t seem a natural fit to me.

As for his jockey skills, lack knowledge in this area.

One of my faves is Jim McGrath, much preferable to Ian Bartlett who has such an ugly raspy voice that gets right on my wick.

A Compulsary retirement age for all race horses IE 10 for a flat horse, 13 for a natonal hunt horse.

Yavana’s Pace won a group 1 at 11, Gordon / Nicky Richards hurdler Better Times Ahead winning twice over timber at 15.

If they are good enough they are young enough.

Maybe not these days but the Sheikh Mohammed of the 80’s had he owned these two stars would have let them take their chance in the Newmarket guineas in my opinion. Form books from that era will bear this out.

The Newmarket guineas even when landed by an inferior animal to the French guineas winner is still a more prestigious race. If the two ran at Newmarket and say Fantasia finished second to Rainbow Verse she could still then go on to Ireland for their guineas.

The year I first got into the sport in 1987 Sheikh Mohammed had almost co favourites of three in the Oaks that year Unite, Scimitarra and Three Tails.

Indeed Ugly Mare this forum has a higher hate per post ratio than the betfair forum.

We will see an openly gay premiership footballer before we see an openly gay jockey. No wonder the sport is shrinking and will continue to shrink.

"As for a personal attack on the President and First Lady…firstly it wasn’t a personal attack,"

I have no time for Obama. he is a two faced leech of a man, a discreduit to the USA, (bowing down to the Saudi’s, apologizing for no reason and being unable to say a sentence without umming and erring. A pitiful pathetic man, with twisted religious beliefs, on the fringe of associating with terrorists and black supremecy groups throughout his lifetime. A totally unsuitable man (and man is a generous term, here) with a hideous wife, together they are hideous representatives of our country intent on taxing us into oblivion to feed the government welfare programs while strangling peoples chance at the American dream in the name of their elitist version of equality which only works for those of a similar mind to them.

If Craig believes calling Barack a man too generous what would be a fairer representation?

Some of those links are worth bookmarking. good stuff

Wouldn’t mind seeing a link for sire going preferences, the only list I have has got Sharpo and Sharpen Up on it making it about 20 years out of date.
