Naturally High at 16/1 looks like the most attractive bet to me.

Could maybe take the Tattersalls Gold Cup before Royal Ascot. I’m assuming Enable will be going to Epsom?

That was very impressive. He looks much much more professional nowadays. I was slightly worried about Cloth Of Stars’ fitness edge, and while the latter was not given much of a chance with the way he was ridden, I do not think it would have changed much in the end. Johnny G is going to sweep up the 1m2/4f G1s this season. The clash with Enable cannot come fast enough.

The oaks winner Enable would kick all of those into touch.

Can’t believe people are saying that’s actually a decent derby.

It certainly wasn’t a vintage renewal or winner, but I think we should at least wait to see how the form holds up before completely writing it off. I think both Cliffs of Moher and Cracksman will have lofty targets ahead of them, while the winner will be sure to go well in the Leger.

I think backers of Douglas McArthur might feel a bit unfortunate that he was chosen for sacrificial duty, as he stayed on well past his expiry date. Unless he’s given the same thankless task in the Irish, I think he could be one to keep an eye on at big prices.

Yep, agree. Think Cliffs Of Moher and Cracksman are two exciting horses to look forward to, given their inexperience and all the wrong they did today. As for Eminent, nevermind the doubts about him not staying the trip, he even looks like he could be a Leger horse to me even though I don’t think connections will be brave enough to go there.

I thought that was a great race to watch personally, and a better Derby than people will give it credit for. Would love to see a rematch between these.

The two Frankels ran brilliantly and definitely stayed. Cracksman was quite babyish, had to be chased along at times and was in arguably in the worst position being closer to the hot pace, yet he somehow still incredibly found enough in him to come back at Cliffs Of Moher after being overtaken. The latter sweated up really badly pre-race and that may have cost him late on, but he did show a remarkable turn of foot to hit the front. Eminent was very unlucky, was staying on very well but based on the overhead view could barely sprint in that final furlong. And, as for the winner, time will tell whether it was a fluke or not, but he clearly stays very well.

Very intrigued to see how that result works out next time, doubt it will be the same. The Irish Derby could be a very intriguing contest if they all show up.

Would love to see a Frankel win this, and I do think both Cracksman and Eminent have very decent chances there. Cracksman is probably just about my main idea of the winner. That said, I do feel like Best Solution at 12/1 could be the bet of the race, particularly if nothing special comes out of this year’s renewal.

Soul Stirring is now a near-certainty to be crowned Champion 2 year old filly in Japan, with the Hanshin being somewhat an end of year championship for juvenile fillies over there. Would have been interesting to see her against Mi Suerte. Not sure why she didn’t make the line-up but we should get to see a lot of them in the Fillies’ Triple Crown next year.

Apparently there is another Group 1 next weekend that Mi Suerte is being aimed at. I believe it is for colts as well.

Yes the 2nd came from a long way out but the winner was never asked a serious question. She looks a serious horse.

Gord – “Joni rules the world”? He doesn’t even rule his own house!

The Asahi Hai I’m guessing. Equivalent of the Hanshin but for colts (although also open to fillies like the Derby). Interesting to hear that they might decide to take on the colts instead of the fillies’ race. Promising to say the least. That said, I haven’t really heard about any potential superstar Japanese juvenile colt so far, so maybe it’s because it’s not that strong a race. Would be something if Frankel could take the only two Japanese Group 1s for 2 year olds, especially considering how Deep Impact has been dominating the breeding over there.

I’m guessing her next start will be the Group 1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies in early December, possibly alongside Frankel’s other unbeaten daughter Soul Stirring. Frankel may yet bag his first Group 1 this season.

Churchill far too short in my opinion. I took the 9/1 on South Seas. Lovely powerful stride on him. Wouldn’t mind seeing Frankel getting his first Group 1 as a sire in the race he did as a racehorse though.

Check out the latest Frankel to debut in Japan, Mi Suerte. Maybe his most impressive debutant yet.

Not convinced the locals are as good as the foreign raiders personally. The latter have been running in much better fields imo, yet are available at excellent value odds. Will probably end up backing all three of the non-europeans.
