Dream Castle. Wow.
April 5, 2017 at 18:16 #1295375Two more Frankel’s out tomorrow at Chelmsford – Extra Mile makes her debut for Saeed Bin Suroor and has received several positive mentions whilst Weekender turns out for Johnny G.
At the weekend we could be looking at Majoris, Lightning Fast and a newcomer called Tango Fire for Richard Hannon and of course the two superstar fillies going for Guineas glory in Japan – Mi Suerte and the unbeaten Soul Stirring. A first classic perhaps……????

April 5, 2017 at 23:57 #1295425Great few days ahead Joni..Looking forward to seeing Extra Mile run at Chelmsford, Godolphin have got off to a flyer this season so would expect her to be in tip top condition.

Bit concerned that Majoris is declared to run on the AW, not a great fan of horses switching from to turf to AW and vice versa I think I might just watch that one.
Mi Suerte and Soul Stirring what more can you say…
Classic glory here we come
If Frankel can cover his ears..
Just had to mention that 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold looked fantastic on Newmarket Heath outing the other morning in the pics put up on Twitter by Hugo Palmer?

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 6, 2017 at 03:46 #1295444Andre Fabre’s Franked runs at Saint-Cloud today. He is entered in the Magister Stakes and has opposition from his own stable and also from a once raced winner from the Rouget stable, the filly Dream Awhile is by War Front and she landed a Deauville race in October.
Franked was third on his debut at the same track over a mile and he now steps up a couple of furlongs. It should be an interesting race as Fabre’s other runner is the once raced winning colt New Trails, who is a Medaglio D’Oro horse and he landed a race at Saint Cloud last November over 1m on very soft ground.
The race is due off about 1.20 UK time and if past experience means anything, the first betting show we get will be about 10 minutes before the bloody race if we are lucky.

I’ll post the video if I can get hold of it.
1.20 Saint-Cloud Thursday Franked (Frankel-Tarocchi)
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 6, 2017 at 11:50 #1295467Franked is showing at odds of 7.3 on Ze Turf if anyone is interested in him.
On the good ground given on the website I would probably be siding with Rouget’s filly at odds of 4.00
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 6, 2017 at 13:11 #1295552Franked is 11/2 with UK bookies. I went for Dream Awhile at 13/2 as the value in my mind.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 6, 2017 at 13:31 #1295555Franked held a good early position but started to weaken in the closing stages, ultimately dropping right out of it, a disappointing effort.
Dream Awhile never looked likely. Contrary to being by War Front, it looked like she might want it softer but then again perhaps she’s just not good enough.
Ultimately 18.3 shot Falcon Wings nailed Fabre’s New Trails (2.2 Fav) right on the line.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 6, 2017 at 17:25 #1295607Thanks for taking the time to update on Franked Steve I never backed him and from what you said it seems he didn’t relish the extra distance.
Better luck with Dream Awhile next time, early days yet.Looking forward to seeing how Extra Mile go at Chelmsford tonight, took 6/5 last night and no excuses really if she doesn’t win tonight.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 6, 2017 at 18:27 #1295620Didn’t get over to Paddy Power in time to watch the race but the betting told the story Extra Mile not fancied today.
Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore strike again this season with Interweave Even money fav..back to the drawing board..

I was disappointed with Franked today Jac. I didn’t feel he was a winner in waiting today but I thought he would have been near it. He travelled well enough early in a race where several set off near the front but it sad to see how tamely he weakened, ultimately last of the ten runners.
I did look at Falcon Wings but the horse he had been third to initially, Veranda, was turned over at 1/2 Fav last time.
I don’t think today’s race was great shakes and there are numerous better Frankel offspring out there. I am hopeful that some of them are going to strike it big this year. Financially it will help me if some of them do.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 6, 2017 at 20:05 #1295633Well Extra Mile looked pretty green and only stayed on but Weekender showed plenty of guts and stamina to win well. Interesting that he looks like he will appreciate a mile and a half as this is the last unknown about the Frankel’s. Will they stay the Derby trip??? On today’s evidence I would say yes.

April 6, 2017 at 22:07 #1295654Wish I’d have popped down the road to Chelmsford racetrack tonight Joni with Stoute, Hannon and Gosden all having winners there and what a great price for Weekender 5/1 hope you backed him and glad to hear he won so well and I’m kicking myself for not backing him, but plenty more to come. Interesting that you said he looks like he will appreciate a mile and a half so have to wait and see where he goes next.
For me after Doncaster has been run I look to The Craven Meeting as the true start of the flat, but it all seems to be taking shape much earlier this year and will have to really start looking at the cards more in depth every day.
Now I just need a 36 hour day and I’m on my way
Good luck Joni and all supporting Frankel’s takeover of the world
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 7, 2017 at 08:06 #1295699Hi Jac – yes I wish I’d gone as well. I didn’t back him, I backed the other Frankel – typical! I imagine you’ll see him in one of the Derby trials next or maybe that conditions race at Epsom. He has a long way to go but I think he will be a nice horse – possibly listed/Group 3. He showed a good attitude to beat a well fancied fav running for an in-form trainer.
Can’t wait for the Craven meeting – I’ll try and go on the Wednesday and then to Newbury for the Friday/Saturday. Really looking forward to the trials. You are right that things seemed to have got going quicker this season. Stoute would typically not have any runners before Nottingham and Saeed Bin Suroor would not normally have any winners before June! He has had 6 out of 8 so far!!! Perhaps it was the result of a drier Spring or simply just trainers trying new ways to combat The O’Brien army. Either way it’s good for racing. Talking of the O’Brien army, I’ll be interested to see the trials at Leopardstown on Saturday especially the possible reappearance of Orderofthegarter. I think he could be this year’s The Gurkha…… Hope to see you in a couple of weeks x

That filly, Fan Dii Na, isn’t showing up in the Japanese 1000G, so there isn’t any real opposition to Soul Stirring, should be a formality.
April 8, 2017 at 10:49 #1295999So, nearly time for an oportunity for Frankel to pick up lots of money in the championship of European-based stallion with most global earnings in 2017. First prize money in the Oka Sho is about £860,000 and second place gets about £325,000. Soul Stirrring is about 11/10 favourite on the Japanese tote at the moment, and Mi Suerte is third favourite at about 20/1, although the odds can change dramatically in the last few hours before a race.
There are 18 declared runners, but Salonika is likey to be a non-runner. Here are some quotes from yesterday by connections of the Frankel runners:
Mi Suerte
Yasutoshi Ikee, trainer
“Her movement’s sharp, and she’s developed more muscle. She’s a filly with a lot of ability, and I get the feeling she’s progressed more, and I’m looking forward to her run here. Something like the way she ran in the Fantasy Stakes is the way I’d like to see her run here.”
Yoshinori Saito, assistant trainer
“It was hard for her in her last race. She can get a little tense, which is how she was for her second and third races. We don’t quite know how she will behave, but she usually goes to the race quietly, and once she gets onto the course properly, she really wants to run.”Soul Stirring
Kazuo Fujisawa, trainer
“She has gotten stronger since her debut, and thankfully I’ve had nothing to worry about with her. She’s not a horse that posts fast times in training, but it’s there to see in her races. She’s more relaxed now, different than what she was for the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. There’s certainly a good feeling about her. She’s run twice at Hanshin now, so I’ve no concerns about transporting her over there.”
Christophe Lemaire, jockey
“I’m not worried about any rain, I think she can handle it if the ground’s soft. I think my number one rival is Admire Miyabi, who will probably race from the back, but I’ll be marked by other runners as well. My filly usually starts well, and to race about fifth or sixth during the race would be good. It’s important to get her to relax. I’ll be doing my best right up to the end.”April 9, 2017 at 15:59 #1296247Think Tango Fire is now declared to run next Wednesday Joni but Lightening Fast runs today… Just posted this up on your Daily, lays and plays Thread:-
Joni..Lightening Fast (Frankel-Lightening Pearl) running in the 5.10 at Naas today.
Have had a good look at him and he was unsuccessful in winning his Maiden last season but his best run was at Naas behind Whitecliffsofdover where he fought back to regain 2nd position at the last (no chance with the winner).Today he is up against Diodorus who has some high class entries in the Irish 2000 Guineas and The Derby.
Lightening Fast looks a good each way bet around 11/2 at present and I did notice that his Topspeed is 77 compared to Topspeed 66 Diodorus, that might carry him home today, although I don’t usually go on stats.Don’t want to miss out on another Frankel dotting up so going in each way Lightening Fast 5.10 Naas…hope you have chance to do him
JacWill post this over on the Frankel Rules The World Thread too.
Hope he can finally get off the mark today..Jac X

.Sent off 2/5 Favourite, Soul Stirring could finish only third. Looking back at it, she doesn’t pick up quickly enough and then runs on at one pace. The other Frankel filly was second as rank 40/1 shot Reine Minoru landed the spoils. I don’t know much at all about the Japanese racing scene but I would say the odds suggested Soul Stirring has disappointed a bit today. The Racing Post say that few Sires get placed horses in Classic races from their first crop, so they reckon it’s a good achievement for Frankel to get two in the frame.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
