Ground currently soft/good to soft in places
I’m a big fan of Olmedo, who looks sure to improve for the step up in trip and is trained by a master, but the soft ground may count against him and might need luck from stall 1. I think he’s a worthy favourite and would prefer him over Study of Man who is now the same price, but I’ll be looking elsewhere.
The two I like are DICE ROLL and HEY GAMAN. Both seem sure to appreciate this step up in trip, on breeding, and weren’t far behind Olmedo in the French Guineas, for all the winner was much the best on the day (better than the official winning margin suggests, as he started his run from further back). I think the soft ground could be a leveller here and their double-figure prices seem mad.
June 3, 2018 at 12:49 #1356015My thoughts here are that Olmedo is going to need a fair chunk of luck to be able to win from stall 1 given his customary run style whilst Study Of Man has pulled a cracker in stall 6 and was mightily impressive last time out. Key Victory looked good last time out but inexperience is likely to cost him in such a congested field whilst the ground probably isn’t going to be as quick as Rostropovich would like it and the form from Chester hardly looks out of this world. A lot of the rest simply don’t look good enough to me but I agree that Hey Gaman looks worth an each-way punt given his price given he came so close to victory in the French Guineas and he again faces conditions he’s proven to handle.
Study Of Man 4/1
Hey Gaman 18/1 e/w 4 placesJune 3, 2018 at 12:54 #1356018I like Olmedo for this and am on each way.
June 3, 2018 at 13:43 #1356025looking at the times in don’t seem as desperate as some trainers think it would be
June 3, 2018 at 13:53 #1356026Expecting another equine version of dodgems with 16 runners – even had the ground not gone against Rostropovich, Aiden has a shockingly bad record in this race.
Liked the look of Study of Man’s last win, he has a good draw and the trip is bang on but as others have said needs luck in running.

June 3, 2018 at 14:09 #1356029I’m with Degaussed and Charles, I think that Hey Gaman
is well over priced at 18s (Paddy Power still offering that). I think he
needed his run in the Greenham and he lost nothing in defeat last time out
at Longchamp. Worth a punt on a Sunday where I’m doing a good impression of a
couch potatoe (spelled the Dan Quayle way
)June 3, 2018 at 14:25 #1356034Big – assuming his price is more reflective of his 13 of 16 draw
June 3, 2018 at 14:29 #1356035Naturally High at 16/1 looks like the most attractive bet to me.
June 3, 2018 at 14:34 #1356036No doubt that’s part of it LD, but I’m hoping the fact that he’s
always smart off the blocks gets him into a decent position. His
race could be over after the 1st furlong, but I think he’s worth
the chance.June 3, 2018 at 15:22 #1356041wd winners
June 3, 2018 at 15:25 #1356042I’m happy to have had the winner and claw back my losses from Epsom yesterday but I must admit that the bunch finish and proximity of Hunting Horn does make this look like a below-par renewal on 1st look.
June 3, 2018 at 15:33 #1356044Strange race, that. A bunch finish with three of the first four home being big, big prices, although the winner was tough. Hey Gaman ran well, but probably paid late on for using too much energy to get to the front. I think he could be worth a look if the ground has some ease in the Eclipse.
Olmedo – strange one. Some people seem to think he didn’t stay, and he certainly travelled through the race like a miler, but the way he dropped away suggests to me he wasn’t quite right. He finished off his previous race like he was crying out for a step up in trip, so maybe the knock he took from Hey Gaman ended up doing race-ending damage?
June 3, 2018 at 17:27 #1356053Mike007, e/w on Olmedo ?, sorry you lost that bet but i’d like to be your bookmaker.
June 3, 2018 at 21:33 #1356076I’d advise against that as I’m pretty good.lol
June 4, 2018 at 01:53 #1356084Well done charles and nwalton, he stuck on really well at the death

I think you called that right Degaussed with Hey Gaman. The draw made it
difficult for him, but he did well and as I mentioned above, he always comes
off the blocks well. He did, as you said, have to burn up quite a bit early
on to get the position he wanted, but he paid for that very late on. Nonetheless
I’ve no complaint, he ran a damn good race. He could be, as you said, one for
the Eclipse, but depending how he comes out of this he might just be of interest
in the St James Palace Stakes in a couple of weeks time. He seems a stoic sort
who takes his races well. He ran 4 times in the space of 6 weeks last July/August
and won 3 of them. I’ve had a nibble at the 16/1 with Betvictor for that.June 4, 2018 at 06:32 #1356091thanks BigG that seemed a long last half a furlong
