I agree alan1,
He is a genius, on his own terms and doesn’t ride each horse on it’s merits. When he’s trying he’s as good as anyone, when he’s not, he’s just plain awful.

Just because sir Zorro, and David Ashforth suggested it, doens’t mean it’s a good idea. Victoria Behan’s comment regarding equal rights mentioned in EW post says it all really. What are you reasons for it Zilzal?
Glenn makes an excellent point, one I made myself earlier, that some women jockeys are better than some male jockeys – It’s all matter of opinion. If I owned a horse I wouldn’t mind having a female rider – in fact I’d choose any female rider above some male ones. I just don’t see the logic??
<br>Daylight – because of physical strength??? ok I want a 3lb allowance for my jockey because he’s a little bit dimmer than the average jock.

I don’t think anyone is doubting his abilty Artemis, he just makes it plainly obvious when the horse he’s riding isn’t off.
If you back Dettori, you deserve all you get. He can be brilliant or dreadful.
Ride a bicycle. I consume no petrol on that.
Agree totally,
I’m sure he would have figured in the Gordon Brown cabinet. The Labour party and politics as a whole will miss him greatly.
Sadly I’ve not had the chance to meet any of my fellow formites.
So following on from this I would like to a propose which formite would you most like to meet……….???
Integrity…………….

Raz,
I see you haven’t refuted Ian’s jibe at your present employment status
Jockeys have attributes. I know some formites on here have a strong opinion on various abilities of jockeys. Some of these strengths/weaknesses, ability to ride from the front etc…..are well known. I don’t see why female jockeys should get a weight allowance??? I prefer to rate jockeys on their ability, and there are some female jockeys I rate above some male ones.

It is a lovely day. I’m not going to see anymore of it though. Just started a 8 hour shift at work till 12am. :(
But, while i’m here (here at work) at least I get chance to read and participate in some lively debate….
Just had some ice cool water from the drinks dispenser
I’d echo Jane’s comments if I were a small cave. I’m not, so I’ll give my own. I’m in no doubt Ian has an opinion on everything!!! but it’s to the benefit of this forum that he does.
If you want to abuse people Minstrel go to the Betfair forum, it’s common practice there.
Dave,
So as to not confuse people. There are no plans at the moment to include DNA samples on the ID card. The Chairman of the Police Superintendents Association wants a national database holding everyones DNA. Two separate issues I believe.
They’re going to finger print, photograph and DNA the entire population .
Dave,
I wonder if you can clarify for us all where you got the information that the ID will contain DNA samples of everyone? I really don’t believe this to be the case.
I was involved at a lower level regarding a trial the Passport Office ran during last year.
I scored:
86% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, and 77% Expert!
Steve,
The title is Fatherland – also excellent.
You could try something by Carl Hiaasen…. Sick Puppy or Basket Case are both excellent.
