Very strong words from Tom Segal in this week’s Weekender – “it would be one of the strangest decisions in the history of sport, let alone racing, if Cracksman missed the race to leave the path clear for his stablemate.”

On the fact that Enable and Cracksman are from the same yard and therefore may avoid each other for that reason he says “if Paul Nicholls or Michael Dickinson or Aiden O’Brien thought the same way we would never have had some of the defining moments in the sport’s long history.”

I have to say I am with him on this….. Worth reading the whole article.

It´s funny these articles never surface, when AOB jerks his fillies around to not hurt the stud value of his colts. Where was the outcry, when Winter skipped the Irish Champion Stakes in favour of the Matron, because of Churchill. If Enable were with AOB, she´d probably be running in the Breeders Cup F&M instead of the Arc.

Grosser Preis von Bayern / 1m4f / Nov 1st / is the only Gr.1 left in Germany.

Cracksman´s own development and health aside, who says there won´t be a horse or two as good or better than Enable in the Arc next year. He gonna skip that one, too?

Well OoSG has to go to the Arc surely. Him and HR are still miles ahead of the three year olds mugs from AOB. Can send CoM as a pacemaker.

    Australia more likely

How much weight are they going to slap onto him? 80kg. I don´t think they´d have run in this, if the Melbourne Cup was the target.

Anyone else think Lady Frankel presents great value in the Moulin. Pitched into a Gr.3 off her two months break, bailing out Boudot, to win in style. Feels like there is more to come her like the recent improvements of Cracksman/Eminent.

Guignol wins easily from Iquitos, Colomano, Windstoss and the shitty Godolphin horses. ;)

    The big race is here.

Gotta say the two year old fillies look very good: Narella, Auenperle and Rock my Love. I was certain I´d bet on Rock my Love for the Winterkonigin until an hour ago. For Narella, Reliable Man out of a Monsun mare, to win this easily over 7f twice against very good opposition is a pretty exciting prospect.

Savoir Vivre running in the Deauville on Sunday takes him out of Baden-Baden. Doesn´t look like it will be much of a field.

FYI Lacazar not in the Vermeille. Dschingis Secret only German horse in the Arc trials.

I´m with Noverre. I don´t know what you see in this Derby form. Enjoy Vijay was beaten 4 1/2L by Iquitos recently. Colomano/Instigator were beaten by similar distances by Dschingis Secret, Shanjo even further. Other top ten finishers in the Derby (Monreal, Promise of Peace, Ming Jung) were beaten in Listed company by another older horse in Near England. The form of the older horses seems much stronger.

That´s before we get to the issue that at the current odds Colomano and Instigator would be much better bets among the three year olds through various form lines.

Lacazar is the big unknown. If you wanted to bet her, I´d get it.

Shame Attica got hurt. She looked the best 3 year old. Klug said she might run in August/September again, definitely as a 4 year old.

I´d say the race is wide open and Windstoss the worst bet at the current odds.

Irish form is the best. A dozen group races for two years olds with five runners, three from AOB. It´s like me running 100 metres against my grandparents and calling it the World Championships.
