Disappointed that either of the horses in the US didn’t do the business but sioux nation balances that out. He must be well ahead against this time last year. I’d say he’s a good bet to beat the record as he seems to be planning big teams for Paris,Ascot and the breeders cup and has a very strong group of 2yos.
August 13, 2017 at 20:39 #1313797As far as ‘quantity of quality’ goes, this could be one of AOB’s best ever years with the juveniles. Feels like he already has at least 10 starlets and no doubt there are more to come!

I thought the same, he should be taking out plenty of the 2 year old races this autumn. From what I can see he should be taking out these races:
Moyglare Stud Stakes (Clemmie/September), National Stakes (Gustav Klimt/The Pentagon), Middle Park (Sioux Nation), Dewhurst (Gustav Klimt/The Pentagon), Fillies Mile (September/Happily), Matron (Roly Poly/Winter), Irish St Leger (Order Of St George), St Leger (Capri/Venice Beach), Sun Chariot (Roly Poly/Winter/Hydrangea/Alice Springs?), Racing Post Trophy (Gustav Klimt/The Pentagon/Amedeo Modigliani)
That’s 10 Group 1’s that seem easily within reach and that’s without mentioning races in France, America or Hong Kong.
August 14, 2017 at 19:00 #1313892August 14, 2017 at 19:24 #1313894With the Phoenix Stakes bagged, there are 15 remaining G1s for juveniles across Ire/UK/Fr/USA that he is very likely to contest. Not beyond the realms of possibility for him to win half (7 or 8) of those. He won 11 juvenile G1 races in 2001.
August 14, 2017 at 19:57 #1313896Is it a case of aiden having a vintage crop or others like gosden underperforming. Could be John magniers decision to match galileo with speedy fillies was a crucial move plus scat daddy is producing big style. Such a sad loss as a stallion. Still no flow of top 2yos from godolphin. Could be of course that aiden is just a fantastic trainer who is getting better all the time.

No more G1´s left in Ireland now, also none in France for September
St. Leger, Cheveley Park & Middle Park left in the UK. Also a few being sent over to Canada. Another couple this month and things could be looking positive with October full of G1 races in the UK & France.
September 11, 2017 at 14:49 #1317297How many Group 1 wins has AOB ever had after the Breeders Cup?
Needs to do it by then or at least come within 1 or 2.
Suspect a lot will depend on two year olds and older fillies.Has plenty of mile options with others so if I were AOB – even though think she’ll improve over further – would stick to 6f with Clemmie – Cheveley Park. Happily and Magical split for the Fillies Mile and Boussac, with Polydream by far best of French rivals. September to go for whichever of the two races with firmer ground and/or Breeders Cup Turf Juvenile Fillies. Colts aren’t so dominent, at least at shorter distances. Probably odds-on to win the Racing Post Trophy, The Pentagon, Saxon Warrior and Nelson; with whichever ones don’t race at Donny going for the Lagadere. So far, French are poor with their two year old colts in particular and the France route could prove profitable. Amedeo Modigliani seems just the type for the 1m2f Criterium De Saint Cloud. AOB doesn’t seem to have anything quick enough for the Middle Park and Expert Eye should be hard to beat in the Dewhurst. I wonder if Gustav Klimt will go to France for their 7f two year old colts Group 1 Criterium International instead of Newmarket. Capri is only an average winner of the Irish Derby, had positional advantage over the now improved Cracksman. Could yet improve at the staying trip but 4/1 probably represents his chance in the St Leger. Venice Beach a possible outsider (with a chance) for that race too. Winter and Hydrangea have the Sun Chariot or l’Opera as possibilities. Hope the former goes for the QEII (very much doubt it’ll be the Arc). If against colts I would think the Champion Stakes might be the race. Ribchester and Enable harder to beat and current Champion favourite Ulysses might yet go to France too. But as far as winning Group 1 races go, probably best keeping Winter to Fillies Only races. Churchill would also find the QEII harder than the Champion. Not given a hard race at the weekend once chance had gone and could yet bounce back. Although I’d put Barney Roy ahead of him. Latter race also a possible for Idaho. Disappointed in USA, can’t see him being good enough or quick enough for Ascot. Goes well on soft ground and think they’ve missed a trick in not going the Cadran/Royal Oak french stayers route. Brother, Highland Reel unsurprisingly hasn’t been seen since a poor soft ground performance in the King George. Suspect he’ll run at Chantilly or Ascot depending on whichever has a sound surface, but with France favoured if both races are sound. Then go Group/Grade 1 hunting around the World in the Breeders Cup Turf and Hong Kong/Singapore. Order Of St George the Arc hope on softer; however at this stage can’t see him beating Enable or Cracksman. Unfortunately the Champion Stayers at Ascot is only Group 2. Can’t see OOSG going the Melbourne Cup route under top weight, although it’s often forgotten even though a handicap is officially a Grade 1. May be the Royal Oak would be a better option? If so, Vazirabad the one to beat even more than his old adversary Big Orange. Roly Poly disappointed at the weekend after a busy season, could struggle now; don’t rule out Rhododendron popping up to win a fillies Group 1 in either Europe or USA – hasn’t had much racing this term… Or is there anything in Hong Kong/Singapore for her? Another that might do well there is Deauville. Found less than usual when hitting the front in Arlington Million last time, but is a proven overseas winner who’s not quite good enough to win a Group 1 here. Are there any German middle-distance Group 1’s they could steal?
…So there are a lot of possibilities.
Hope AOB gets the record, should be a close run thing.Value Is EverythingSeptember 11, 2017 at 15:38 #1317298Grosser Preis von Bayern / 1m4f / Nov 1st / is the only Gr.1 left in Germany.
