Aidan’s interview this evening raised hopes that Minding will be back for races like the Juddmonte International and the Irish Champion, with the Arc as her main aim.

Sounds a bit more positive ” She has to have a month’s box rest and go from there.” Here’s hoping, be great to see her again. Record or no record

May 28, 2017 at 19:42 #1302486Two massive performances in Ireland this weekend. Those two certainly look like adding to the tally this year, with plenty of races to go at.
Churchill’s next races look to be the St James & Sussex Stakes. Winter for the Coronation Stakes and Falmouth or Nassau Stakes.
Next port of call Epsom

WH down to 4/1 now

Good luck mate. Two very good winners in the main races…can surely go onto bigger and better.
Somehow also unlucky to hit the crossbar after having a big race last weekend.
Lets hope they all stay fit and well and you boys can make a nice withdrawal at the bank
lMay 29, 2017 at 04:27 #1302523I don’t know why but I really like this thread.
Keep going Botchy with the tally and the bookie odds, I’m enjoying it.
22 left and I think they have a cracking shot in the Derby, a fair chance in the Oaks and the probable winner in the Coronation Cup.
They have probable winners in the Ascot gold cup, st James’ palace, commonwealth cup and coronation stakes.
18 from elsewhere after them 4 likely winners. Possible.
May 29, 2017 at 05:36 #13025254/1 doesn’t feel like value with Minding gone and two big team members out injured. We also had the Tatts Gold Cup on the ‘likely’ pile so that feels like quite a big miss.
We’re now 9/2.

He’s likely to contest another 60-70 G1s, so he’s on course.Quite phenomenal when you think about it Sunspangled.
When you mention that they could have another 60-70 G1’s still to run, it just magnifies the scale of the whole operation. That’s like 10 G1 races / month for the rest of the year.
The nice thing for me personally, is that he always gives credit to everyone associated with the operation and comes across as a very humble down to earth guy.
May 31, 2017 at 19:44 #1302812Nothing against the horse it is just that jockeys should know by now how to ride against him yet they still seem to leave him alone in front in his races, says more about the jockeys than the horse really – you are right about the Dubai run, ironic that you go there because there is pretty much zero chance of the ground being anything else but fast and then they have a torrential rainstorm befoehand turning the ground good to soft.
I don’t know if international horses still get invites but to me the Japan Cup could be an ideal race to target him at as more often than not it is run on very firm ground and travelling is no issue to him and it must be one of the few G1s O’Brien has not won plus the prize money is massive (I think there are also bonuses if you have won certain races in the lead up as well).
Japan bend over backwards with their fantastic bonus payments for the winners of Arcs, King Georges etc who place or win the Japan Cup, in addition to the already excellent money for winning or placing in the Japan Cup. Oddly, it has not really enticed the Europeans over the years. Bit of an ask with it being in December and said horses would have been racing his May-June (or earlier) and running in September -October in the likes of ICS, BCS, Arc and Breeders . Big difference between Hong Kong Vase and Breeders Cup is that the home horses are no where near the high standard of the Japanese middle distance horses.
Errupt of France, won the Woodbine International last year, went to the Japan Cup after that. In 2014, Trading Leather , the 2013 Irish Derby winner broke his leg in Japan. Flintshire was suppose to go there in 2015, but oddly tried to keep it safe with another try of the Hong Kong Vase . Trip To Paris and Errupt went though
Agree about HR. Coronation, King George and maybe York and go straight to the Arc. Then, definitely give Japan a try. They would probably want to go back to the Breeders Cup, but with it being in Del Mar? To hell with that
May 31, 2017 at 20:13 #1302814What do you think about these Cupid rumours, Botchy?
With Minding and others crocked plus Acapulco and Eastern Angel in foal, I’d given up on the bet, but a few Twitter wags are suggesting AOB is in line to take over the Hollywood Gold Cup winner mid-season.
I can’t see any substance in it with Cupid being by Tapit and exclusively raced on dirt so far.

No idea to be honest, i had to look up who Cupid was on Google.
Minding was the worst blow possible but sounds positive she will return. Hopefully they can get to 12 be the end of July, if they do it will be interesting.
May 31, 2017 at 23:06 #1302833There are ~25 G1s between now and end July that they are likely to contest.
They need to maintain a hit rate of one in three, so that would be another 8, which would indeed bring the total to 12.June 1, 2017 at 14:09 #1302870Entries in for Fridays fayre
