This has been the worst BBC coverage of racing I have ever seen.Today waqs slightly better but the last two days could have come from any couse anywhere,it so lacked atmosphere.
My biggest pet hate4 of their commentator is when he referes to the word position as "posi" grrrrrr

Lets not turn the memorail section into am advert for animal aid.None of us like seeing horses die racing, its tragic .Aintree have modifed the course and the RSPCA attend the National meetings so the welfare of the horses is taken into huge consideration.

yes it was very sad to hear that Lord Rodney had died. However these horses are not made to jump they do so of their own free will.Just look at the beginning of this race for instance when Always refused to race.If you dont like seeing it then dont watcfh.

Quote: from madman marz on 8:39 pm on Feb. 15, 2007[br]While I agree the horse should have been retired, VO’s death was just unfortunate. I dont break out in a rash and be put on an emergency ventilator machine after a panic attack, when I hear the news of the death of a racehorse, unlike some posters on this thread.
Racehorses are probably better treated than most family pets, and a lot better treated than millions of human beings around the world living in shanty town slums begging for money dressed in rags, with no shoes I could go on and on.

A lot of threads on this topic suggested that VO was’nt enjoying racing anymore, "spare me" who said racehorses enjoy racing. I wouldnt say they fancy a three mile slog around towcester and get 6 or 7 smacks on the backside for good measure if he/she’s in with the remotest chance of winning. Racehorses are broken in as yearlings to curb their natural wild instincts to become submissive to us humans, they race because we conditioned them too. Believe me they dont bloody well enjoy it.
If some of you posters are so sympathetic towards animals, why not campaign to stop real cruelty to animals which is endemic in darkest Asia, like when live cats are dipped into vats of boiling water to burn the fur off them, to say it made me cringe is an understatement.
My post might have been a little off the rails, but some people need a reality check
[/quote

People like me? I would rather be compassionate where the welfare of racehorses are concerned than have no heart.I may not agree with what some people post on here but I dont attack their point of view.
It isnt the fact that Venn Ottery died,it happens,it’s that it could have been avided.

Well said Dave 22 and Stormont.I dont believe Jilly is a female as women would have more compassion to this poor horse and a heart. No need for rude comments here.

Couldnt agree more.He is never going to win another race,he deserves no less.he needs an owner like Ashley brook who retires all her horses to home and gives them a fantastic after racing life.

£1 would be a fair price as I am sure there are large amounts of the paper that each of us dont read.
