does anyone know any more about ‘graphic approach’, i know he was loose at aintree after falling at bechers (22nd fence) in the grand national, there was a delay, the 5.35 got abandoned and all i know is that its dues to a loose horse, being treated, as he had crashed through the railings… does anyone know if he is ok?
Also, i would like to say what an excellent run mckelvey put in, i had him each way at 20/1 he had been trained for this race and the jockey had said he was hoping to win, that was the aim… i think an extra 100 metres and he would have done it.. but what a way to fly home.
Plus a mention to an outsider i back, the outlier, he was doing very well up front and some of his jumping was great, he seemed to start to get a little unsure of himself, and when he unseated at the fence, he still jumped so well, he purely bucked the rider off as he jumped… he didnt stumble or fall as most results say! I would like to see him come back and try again!
And, one more thing… well done to hedgehunter for getting round 3 years running… 4 years of running the national.. good luck to the old boy, i think he will retire soon as i know he has been having knee problems and not running often as the trainer said he is getting on and his joints are stiff.
And to Jamie moore for riding a winner at aintree. :)
As for detroit city… he seems to have lost his ‘go’, a bit like prince charlmagne did on the flat. i hope he is ok, and i would love to see the old detroit city back.
Turbo Linn was good yesterday and i think she deserves the name, it really does have a turbo boost!
My fav performance of the meeting though, i think was, Monets Garden in the 3.10 yesterday, i think he will be a very good horse in the future. And i woudl hope to see him go in for the grand national in a few years, all being well.
anyway, enough of my banter, as the point was.. if you know anything on graphic approach let me know, otherwise if love to start a thread on what we thought was the best race at aintree and any horses you think could come back for the national etc etc.. or just congradulations to someone… :)
April 14, 2007 at 19:03 #51943TRF’s own Shadow Leader (Dom) is there and is hoping to see Edgy’s assistant later this evening, so should get an update.
April 14, 2007 at 19:49 #51945I only noticed the screens had gone up after the end of the national and they were still up when i left at 6pm. they were constantly ferrying buckets of water down to that area and I assumed that there was a horse down with heat exhaustion/ dehydration..hopefully it wasnt a lost cause.
as for detroit city… changing the headgear must be clutching at straws to find the problem with this horse… he was running drunk at the end.
April 14, 2007 at 19:53 #51946According to the Racing Post the horse had heat stroke and was being treated on the hurdles course , thus blocking the bumper race so for the welfare of all horses , Graphic Approach , and the bumper horses who were being kept waiting too long , the bumper was abandoned.
RP goes on to say that GA was later sedated and taken to the Vet Hospital
Presumably they will issue an update tomorrow?
April 14, 2007 at 19:56 #51947According to the RP website, Graphic Approach was anaesthetised and taken to the equine hospital at Liverpool University for assessment.
Hope he will recover ok.

April 14, 2007 at 20:40 #51951Hope he pulls through but Lea is the best place for him – they treated Youllneverwalkalone amongst others in recent years – so here’s for a good night for Graphic Approach :)
