Rock The Kasbah for me too in this, I just wish he had a few pounds less. I’ll have a saver on the day on Wild West Wind as well.

Might Bite wins this, by a fair margin too I’d say. He carried my money at Cheltenham, and also when he fell here last year. He’s to short for me to punt tomorrow. He will cream it though, and be hailed as the new star (Cheltenham is not for him though).

I’ve had a few large wagers on Henderson’s Reigning Supreme in the earlier Novice Handicap chase, on his debut over fences. Good horse, a very nice chaser in the making. 11-2 was a steal IMO.

Unoriginal, but Clan Des Obeaux for me too. I did not get the 10’s like some, but I’m on at 13-2. I really like this horse, he was still weak last year. Top weight will not phase him, he’s a big ole lump.

I run an internet based retail business, which is revolved around another, much more male orientated pastime

Football, Jihadism or Wank Mags? Can’t think of any other male orientated pastime other than, when time permits, Betting

Personally I wouldn’t want to belong to a clique that would have me as a member

None of the above unfortunately Drone. I think ‘wank mags’ may have died with the internet didn’t they?

I have been a member for a while now but I still feel an “outsider” and apart from the clique. If you are part of the clique as many people posting on this thread are, then, you are maybe not aware you are in one. I have stopped posting on a number of occasions and I have logged out and taken away the bookmark, but I have been tempted to look at the Memorials section etc and have posted again.

I do very much feel that I have different views and interests to the vast majority.
I also think some posters are extremely rude at times and I often feel most uncomfortable.
I am not certain but I would guess 80% of posters are male bettors.

Is there a clique? I’ve looked at this forum for a few years on and off now. I can’t see any cliques, it’s a horse racing forum, how could there be? People become friendly over time, that’s human nature. If you feel on the outside, you should puff out your chest, then put your views across. It’s only the internet, don’t ever let it make you feel ‘uncomfortable’. I’d bet that even more posters are male than your 80%.

I run an internet based retail business, which is revolved around another, much more male orientated pastime. The great volume of forums connected to this other pastime, make the Racing forum seem very, very tame in comparison. This seems to be a very friendly place on the whole, I must have missed a lot on here.

A gathering of losers, wide eyed in their shiny anoraks surrounded by mildewed form books counting out their coppers into the void. This is the Racing Forum. When I log in a year from now nothing will have changed apart from natural wastage.

Speak for yourself grandpapa. I have no clue about you, apart from your rambling here Woolf. Going on that alone, you sound like a very, very depressed old man. You know the sort, whom every word you hear from them… Is just, well it’s just depressing. Cheer up Charlie, some of us are not so downtrodden as you.

Please all, spare a thought for poor Woolf this Christmas. It’s a terrible time of the year for people with these sort of issues. I hope you find some happiness soon Woolf.

Connections telegraph to each other the name of the agreed winner on the morning of the race, usually a low grade affair, preordained, silly to deny it, marking you out as an outsider.

Honest question Woolf, do you use class A drugs, or prescription medication?

Our Sport Ginger? It’s not your sport or my sport, it belongs to those who have invested in the sport and they will keep you and I well out of the loop. Investment usually means buying a racehorse or at the very least having part ownership of a horse. Having a friend on the inside is an inestimable boon, failing that, recourse to a paid tipping service may be useful. I have never paid for information and never will. Generally results are preordained. You of course have a special insight and win by backing against yourself, that doesn’t work for me.

I bet you’re fun at parties. It’s nearly Christmas, cheer up treacle.

Unquestioning loyalty to racing is what characterises this forum. Extremely boring. There are plenty of other places and I don’t include Betfair which is not to my taste, there are far better. I only bet with reliable info from trusted sources these days.

    Ark at her :bye:

This forum is cool, but it does have a pretty stiff upper lip. I don’t look at any other racing forums, but I have great experience of forums in another ‘sporting’ field. This forum is incredibly friendly in comparison.

Old man, over the hill. He’s never been the same since his last injury. He used to be a jockey to totally rely on, these days, that’s no longer the case. Age catches up with us all.

He was one of the very best.

Connections missed the RSA last year due to connections believing he’s better on soft ground. So with it drying up wouldn’t be surprised if he comes out.

I see Coneygree and maybe American as the dangers to Whisper, my 12-1 on Whisper is ante post, so will not get a deduction, so I’ll personally love it if they pull Coneygree & American both out tomorrow. :good: :good:

I’m on Whisper @ 12’s quite heavily for this. I can see him running very well in this indeed. I know he’s only a small horse, but apart from Coneygree, he’s the only realistic Gold Cup horse in the field. I can’t back my beloved Coneygree after his last run, so Whisper it is.

I had a fortune on Coneygree when he won the gold cup as a novice. When it rained hard the day before, I carried on lumping on him. If you ever watch the race again, watch the very start. As he lines up to lead, the big Irish horse who dwarfs him tries to intimidate him… Coneygree goes to take a chunk out of the much bigger horse if you watch closely, then bustles past him as the tapes lift. I knew in that very moment he would win it. I fear him massively tomorrow if he’s back to form, even with top weight.

Iv’e backed the fav, little bit at 9’s, more at 8’s. A very strongly run 1m4f on soft ground, should bring out substantial improvement. Buick is perfect for the job too. 5’s is a bit short now though.

Locked in Royal cert- hope the price doesn’t collapse too much as haven’t taken a price. 50 on it :good:

I think you might regret not taking a price on that horse Judge.
