…..hard or soft? Rough or smooth?

Just trying to take the debate away from Nath’s Nomination Thread. Steve Caution has made the point that many of us on here are too nice to each other and that we agree with each other all the time. Is that fair? Does it matter? Would people prefer this forum to be more like Twitter or the Betfair forum where posters are regularly vile to each other?

Personally I think this forum is better than that. Sorry if that sounds snobby but in my opinion this forum stands head and shoulders above any other because it is frequented by experts and those with a genuine passion for horses and horse-racing. But is there a balance to be found?

Thoughts would be welcomed……But keep it friendly…. ;)

Good idea taking it away from the nomination thread, Joni.
Personally, as I touched on in that thread. For me, we should all keep things horse racing related – not getting personal. However, where I do agree with Steve is that people should be more willing to take robust discussions of their horse racing views.

Please note: People should not see “robust discussions” as criticism. It’s just a strong difference of opinion about horse racing – nothing personal. People have accused me of getting “personal” in the past; may be I have pushed it a little too far once or twice, but it’s all been done in the context of racing and haven’t meant it as a personal comment.

In fact I prefer people I can have an intelligent robust discussion with. If I think they’ll throw their toys out of the pram if I disagree I won’t enter a discussion. May be that’s how what people describe as “cliques” develop.

Sorry Ginger, I meant to post my last comment on here but expect it will all be flying it’s way over via Matron any time soon. Good call :good:

I like the Forum just the way it is…

Besides with a singing voice like yours Joni if the horses goes tits up you have always got that X-Factor to fall back on

It was Christmas Eve Joni babe
    In the drunk forum
    SteveCaution said to me,
    Won’t see another one
And then he sang a song
    The Rare Old Mountain Dew
    I turned my face away
    And dreamed about you

    Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one (Frankel sired)
    I’ve got a feeling
This year’s for me and you
    So happy Forum
    I love you Triptych
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

    They’ve got cars
    Big as bars
They’ve got Native rivers of gold
But the wind op goes right through you
It’s no place for the old

When you first took my hand
    On a cold Christmas Eve
    You promised me
Broadway Buffalo was waiting for me

You were handsome as handsome does (Rory)
    You were pretty
Queen of New York City (tight track)
    When the band finished playing
    They howled out for more
    Sinatra was swinging
All the drunks they were singing
    We kissed on the corner
Then Exotic Danced through the night

The boys of the DLAP’s choir
    Were singing ‘Galway Bay’
    And the bells are ringing
    Out for Forum day

    You’re a bum
    You’re a punk
You’re an old slut on junk
    Lying there almost dead
On a drip in that bed

    You scumbag
    You maggot
    You cheap lousy faggot
    Happy Christmas your arse
    I pray God
    It’s our last

The boys of the DLAP’s choir
    Still singing ‘Galway Bay’
    And the bells are ringing
    Out for Forum day

    I could have been someone
    Well, so could anyone
    You took my dreams
From me when I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
    Can’t make it all alone
I’ve built my dreams around you

The boys of the DLAP’s choir
    Still singing ‘Galway Bay’
    And the bells are ringing
    Out for Forum day

    Accounts day Jacqui
I lost £30 in a fine for driving through the bus lane
but I’m saving over £40 for not renewing my garden waste bin
Fathers having it for his compost at the allotment
    Everyone’s a winner baby

Can you appeal Nathan? You couldn’t have known you were in it  Maybe if you sing that song to them they might reduce the fine ;-)
Seriously though…really sorry to hear about that

I got it reduced from £60 for paying early
Not worth the hassle of appealing as it’s so clear the sign and red floor
It was unintentionally and a total Trigger moment
It’s a new road layout been there for a few months now and I knew about it but I just drove through as normal like I’d done for years without thinking.

    @NathanHughes
I got one in my local Tescos for staying over 3 hours. I had popped into the local betting shop first and stayed longer than I thought only went 20 minutes over but still received a picture of my car with the clock showing time overdue.
Paid up early like you and won’t do that again in a hurry..
