One of the most useful company gifts I have received is a keychain with a flash memory (company name and logo printed on it). I still use it to this day and isn’t something one would consider disposable.
Agree with those who said buy out of a claimer. The one thing I would add is take into consideration the yard the horse is coming from. Certain trainers will have bottomed out their horse and left zero improvement whereas others will have been very easy on the animal and left you quite a bit to work with.
Nice to see that Lemon Silk has made the cover of the next issue of Racing Ahead magazine! Shame his name isn’t mentioned even once inside though!

Have to also say Lydia….not only for the same reasons mentioned by Jeremy but also because I want her to say nice things about Lemon Silk and Gardasee on RUK

Yep…Seebald was the 1….thanks for that Rory.
It was Brad that found that good horse of Pipe’s that Robbie fowler ownd along with the guy who advertises Land for sale on TV.Think it fell in the Arkle but can’t remember it’s name……..been in the pub again
Auetaler?
Yes, a couple of ladies races. He and Dinarius
have also moved to Kahlil Burke. Dinarius will
be the one to look out for when he runs in about
2-3 weeks.Gardasee’s doing great….really filling out his huge frame and will be going novice chasing. Expect to see him out around Xmas.
No Rory….he’d be carrying too much weight for a small horse. It’s a long way off but the Imperial Cup followed by the Supreme Novices or Triumph is a possibility.
Indeed
Has been given a mark of 131 by handicapper….somewhat high in my opinion..Clearly, the majority appear to want to make this fence safer, be it by changing course or omitting it altogether.
As most have pointed out, the attrition rate at the 2nd last is unacceptable. This fence comes at a point in the race where runners are jostling for position to make their final run for home, so taking a pull is not going to be a priority. If changing the course is not a viable option, I don’t think omitting it is either, since, as others have stated, there will be too long a run without jumping a fence. If it were left up to me, I would replace the current fence with a smaller one, similar to a French style hurdle. This way the best jumpers will be at an advantage if they ‘wing’ it, and since they will be able to jump it flatter, are less likely to topple over as a result.
I know this isn’t an ideal solution for a high class steeplechase but it should reduce the casualties whilst maintaining the spectacle.
Escuse me if I am being a little naive here, but what you are saying is if a horse wins a Grade 2 hurdle he shouldn’t get any penalty because it was at a lesser track.
No Fist, that’s NOT what he’s saying.Try reading it again.
Lemon Silk ew
Showing my age here but 2 of my favourite chasers were The Dikler and Spanish Steps. The Dikler, in particular, I adored with his big flashy white face and his game, low head carriage.
Had to do some digging Corm, but RP’s first edition had Sonic Lady on it.
I wouldn’t touch an ex-Cole inmate with a ten foot bargepole – they’re either sour as hell, crippled or nutters!
Hmmm, Riyadh went through all those phases after I got him from Cole’s , lol. He’s now enjoying his career as a show horse in the ex racer division and doing it successfully. How on earth they got him to do dressage I will never know!
