Good luck to mulls74 and all his team for the launch of this new venture tomorrow.

October 19, 2007 at 08:15 #120383I’d second that. Good luck – anyone brave enough to take on the RP deserves it. Will be reading with interest
October 19, 2007 at 08:58 #120389Sorry, seems I’ve had my head buried in the sand for the last few months

Is there a new paper coming out tomorrow then? Where can I find information on this?
Thanks,
Mike

October 19, 2007 at 10:06 #120407Add me to the list of best wishes. Looking forward to seeing it.

I’m not saying anything, other than to add my best wishes also.
October 19, 2007 at 10:29 #120412Interesting read from Mr Methven there.
Best wishes to RAW – genuinely hope they come up with something interesting….
October 19, 2007 at 10:58 #120420Yes, a nice read, and he’s probably right but I am hoping that he is wrong.

October 19, 2007 at 11:03 #120423Best of luck tomorrow.
Is it available in Ireland BTW?
October 19, 2007 at 14:55 #120459Indeed very best wishes to all involved.
October 20, 2007 at 08:43 #120570Well, what’s the verdict?
Lean and mean…………..certainly lean, cut right back to the bone.
The form looks alright on first inspection……….but I don’t use the form part of the Racing Post anyway.
Seems to have been supported for the launch (probably at special rates) by advertisers.
Well done, Stephen, I do hope it succeeds.
By the way, it wasn’t available at the local Borders but I found it in the newsagents.

October 20, 2007 at 09:02 #120571i had a bit of trouble getting a copy but found it eventually.
its going to be tough obviously getting established but on first inspection it has a good chance
the fact i bought the racing post as well just shows in my eyes how hard it will be to take it on as people are so used to the layout, writers etc which in my opinion the rp is great for. the trouble may be that not many people are looking for a change so persuading them might be that bit tougher as not many will buy both
but best of luck and i will certainly buy again
October 20, 2007 at 09:10 #120572It’s been pitched at a pretty low level – minimal written stuff, sparse analysis, no results etc – and that’s probably a sensible commercial decision.
With that – and the logistical difficulties of getting anything out into the marketplace – in mind, I think it’s a decent effort.
October 20, 2007 at 09:11 #120573I was disappointed, but rather than dwell on negatives, maybe we should attempt to give some constructive criticism.
I think the tipping piece Oddscheck is too long and definitely needs to have a tipping box which outlines what is being tipped at what price. I think most punters wouldn’t bother reading it. Similarly, in all the tipping columns it should be clear what is being tipped (and what is the NAP etc)
I quite like the time ordered racecards – good for the sit at home punters who like to play race by race (maybe not so for racegoers). With regard to the quality of the cards and form, as stated previously the paper really needs to match or better the RP. At the moment it doesn’t come close (not an easy task though admittedly)
October 20, 2007 at 09:34 #120575Not been for a copy and it sounds like it’s not worth going for one
October 20, 2007 at 09:48 #120577I wouldn’t say that empty, come on get up off your ass and go and get one NOW!!!!!
