If they doubled your initial deposit (up to a maximum of £5,000) with the proviso that you leave it in there for at least 12 months and have x number of trades per month then they might just survive.

Oh dear. Beef Or Salmon was gaining ground hand over fist and would have got there in another circuit :)

Bott, ground likely to be good to soft or softer which will suit. All you need to worry about is how much you can get on at 7-2 in the morning.

    1) What planet are you on? No-one goes to the races to watch the actual racing. I’m surprised they still have grandstands facing the track.

    2) I don’t remember you being so anti-tent when it was occupied by a cheese seller. What have you got against Henrietta Knight-style furry hats? :)

You’d be amazed at just how badly on-course bookies bet these days – the value definitely lies with going racing, especially if you want to bet each-way. If a horse is 8.8 on Betfair you can guarantee someone will go 15-2..and of course there’s no comm to pay. The four runner race at Cheltenham yesterday saw best prices of 2-1, 2-1, 11-4 and 66-1!

Couldn’t agree more….and not just because I did my cobblers when Star De Mohaison won on Saturday!

As a bookmaker standing at the Open meeting I’m looking foward to paying out on Pipe-trained 15-8 favourites, forecast at 8-1, with form figures of: PPP who win by half the track, just like last year.

Wouldn’t put you off Arcalis – who goes 40-1? Best price on oddschecker is 33s.

Just read in the RP that Mount Nelson returned at 10.9/1 on the PMU – bugger!

I backed him in Ireland last time, didn’t realise he was running today. Any idea what price he returned?

Beers on me. And the Milky Bars. Was one of 5 tickets on Short Skirt so have about £111,000 to divvy up, which is nice. Laid a £7,500/£1000 the winner and had £800 on Mountain and £200 on Foxhaven – never been happier about setting fire to eight and a half grand!

I’m in the IPA tent at Newbury – still haven’t phoned in my selection but have formulated a plan….

I fancy Short Skirt, Mountain and Foxhaven. Will probably go for Short Skirt then, once I know who many tickets are on it (perhaps 10 max?) I’ll lay it – perhaps taking £1000 out of it. I’ll then bet the other two with the grand I stand to win if Short Skirt gets beat – say £800 on Mountain, £200 on Foxhaven.

    Just time for another Stella.

Already done the Lingfield handicaps – Intrepid Jack and Descartes are nailed on! They’ll probably switch the bonus race to the 2.42 at Steepledowns if Newbury is abandoned. General consenus among the conspiracy theorists was that the Newbury meeting could have gone ahead today but they wanted to give Saturday’s card every chance. My current shortlist comprises of Mountain, Short Skirt and Sunday Symphony. So will probably go for Dragon Dancer. Going for a pint now to stop myself fretting about it.

This is the Scoop6 bonus race (assuming Newbury isn’t abandoned) so please feel free to find the winner :)

I thought Sunday Symphony had a squeak. Seems best fresh,  hence poor effort after quick return at Yarmouth last time. Heavy going the obvious concern.

Having frozen my arse off at last season’s Festival I can’t imagine there being much flesh/fake tan on show. Perhaps they can hold ‘most sensible coat’ and ‘best co-ordinated scarf/gloves’ competitions.
