Semi-retired but I prefer to spend my Sundays studying Banded form for Monday Wolverhampton (surely the true cultural capital of the Midlands?) cards.
It’s true. Bookies know the results of all races in advance. Unfortunately, I entered the wrong PIN number into my decoding gizmo prior to Paddy Power Gold Cup day and knocked out seven grand.
What price would Kingscliff have been for this race last season after his Betfair Chase win? Voy Por Ustedes and Central House for me.
New Little Bric out to 13.5 on Betfair a few minutes ago and could be a knocking each-way bet tomorrow if all five run.
Dave, it may be unwise to assume (as I’ve often done in the past) that the Festival will be run on good/faster going. They turned on the taps prior to the Paddy Power meeting and will no doubt do so again next March.

I’ll stick to walking.

Mis-read that first time.
Distant Thunder – Hennessy :(

Fortunately for my feline friends I’m staying in Newbury tonight so they’ve escaped. Word of advice – never phone reception and ask for "three cats to be sent to room 113" – got the wrong idea and asked me to leave.
Guess he doesn’t need the money. Certainly doesn’t like leaving it behind. When he comes out of his shell, he’ll have a few quid on.
Gutted for all concerned. Thought he could have won the Gold Cup this season.
Distant Thunder at 14-1. A bookmaker friend of mine who keeps speed figures was raving about his Bangor run. Known him for four or five years but this is the first horse he’s ever had a bet on to my knowledge.
Fortunately I have several cats to kick so they only get one or two each.
Good point Mike…good point.
Each-way antepost can be massive value at the five-day stage. If there are only 18 declared on Tuesday for something like the Victor Chandler Chase you know its odds-on to cut up to 15 or fewer runners but you will still get paid first four. The Betfair chase is a good recent example – six runners but each-way 1,2,3 antepost. Last year I went for a massive touch in the Hennessy on All In The Stars – each-way at 100-1. SP of 14s and finished fifth – beaten by just over a length for fourth after making two or three life-threatening jumping errors!
I backed West Ham United at 16-1 in the ‘without the big five market’ when they announced the signing of those Argentinian fellas. Ten minutes later you could lay 9-1 on Betfair – wish I had.
Had a little 12-1 with SportingOdds, Totalbet and Ukbetting. He’s 8.8-1 to lay now.
Thanks Rory, I’ll try and lay ten monkeys. ;)
