Perhaps they could have the Countdown countdown played over the tannoy during the race – dh, dh, dhd, dh, dhd, dhd, dhd, diddah, diddah, diddah, diddle de deeerrrrrr! (forgive spelling…and bad taste :) )
Hagger, sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to your question, I’ve been rather busy of late. My stuff is called Trend Horses but refers to patterns within horses’ form figures rather than trends associated with previous runnings of a race (although I do refer to such things). Today for example I’ve tipped Pango each-way because he hasn’t finished out of the frame at seven furlongs since October 2001. I was also on Boundless Prospect each-way in the first at Newmarket. He has lost all 27 starts in fields of 14 or less but has won 5 from 12 in fields of 15 or more runners. Throw in his need for a straight track and he had five wins and a close third to his name from seven starts under the conditions he faced today – all bets proofed in advance to Rory, Chompy Draw Boy and my Dad :)
I hope so, otherwise I’ve wasted half my life.
Trade was desperate at Newmarket again today. It doesn’t help that the course made annual members to pay to get in, as this fixture is not classed as a Newmarket meeting – surely a discount at least should have been offered.
Bots exist and some "bot" accounts are on zero % comm with Betfair as they provide so much liquidity.
It’s unfair to judge regional racing on that one Wolverhampton meeting, that size crowd is par for the course at Dunstall Park (except on Saturday evenings). I was at Southwell yesterday and there was a good crowd, too many bookmakers, but that’s what bookies always say! OK the racing was pants, but after Rosti, Larkys Lob and Hurricane Coast won there were plenty of punters who went home happy.
I can imagine the shops changing their e/w terms in the near future. Perhaps reducing the place terms in certain races or by simply refusing e/w bets where the favourite is odds-on. At present the "rats" in these snide e/w races get knocked out on Betfair, on-course bookies (betting win only) follow suit and the shrewdies mop up with e/w singles, doubles and trebles off course.
I used to think e/w betting was for mugs but since I’ve worked on-course I’ve changed my mind. Enjoy it while it lasts.
