we’re members of the Midlands racing club, and their NH, Cheltenham and Aintree previews combined with an ‘Arkle’ evening were brilliant….
just perhaps we’ll be looking back on this season in the future the way that we look back to the glory days of Arkle, Mill House et al…maybe the bubble will burst early on but if not what a few months we’ve got to look forward to!…..mo
no, Denman going to Wetherby – when was the last time we had such competitive racing right at the start of the season!
I thought Paul Nicholls said that Denman was likely to go for the Betfair.
methinks my Scottish mate was winding me up! naughtynaughty. it’s the gaelic songs I like the best, but I can’t sing along to them [well, I try to!] however, think Hearthammer with it Hank Marvinish guitar is pretty good too….however it’s songs like siol ghoraidh that are the best….makes me feel all patriotic and then think damn, I’m not Scottish. However, spend a lot of time in the border country, not sure if that counts…mo
having quickly looked at the card for Bangor on Saturday he doesn’t seem to have many runners, so it’s back to the drawing board for me…..
what is Manduro’s breeding? presumably his stud fee will be a lot cheaper than the others. I remember someone telling me about Mill Reef and Brigadier Gerard and saying that horses with unfashionable breeding that do incredibly well on the racecourse don’t breed good horses.
do Storm Cats have a bit of a temperament problem? I always got the impression that Storm Cat ate people for breakfast……which top horses has he sired [both here and in America]?
you could do a ‘Jimmy the Hat’ and sleep on the couch at the Queens Hotel as a non paying guest for @ 20 years! Failing that drop in there for a guinness, what an great atmosphere
start of the proper racing on Saturday for us – Bangor!! any tips welcome but will probably back Nigel Twiston Davies all afternoon!
has anyone established yet what is happening with Peeping Fawn ie is she still in training, is she out for the season, is she out for good???
Didn’t see the race yesterday [can someone tell me what happened?] the horse did bleed last season and Jamie Osborne keeps him fully turned out doesn’t he because of it. Maybe he’s a Milton Bradley horse [isn’t he the trainer who specialises in horses with this problem].
but a horse running a lot in lesser races could pick up a good few points…..
does it exclude races in S. Ireland?
am so sorry that this has happened at Kelso, probably my favourite track in the whole country. I find it much better value than my local course, Uttoxeter with much better racing, attracting a lot of the top northern horses. I do hope that they make amends to the people that were there, probaly best to keep your tickets just in case..was at Uttoxeter one year when the wind was so bad they had to cancel, but they didn’t come to a decision for ages – we reckon they just wanted people to spend lots of money in the bars and restaurants before they abandoned; there was no way the racing was going to go ahead.
Clare Balding said yesterday that Peeping Fawn had gone wrong; I thought that she was going to be brought back for the arc next year. Does anyone know what is happening with her, was really looking forward to seeing her next season.
If there’s one thing politicians don’t want us to have, Kevin, it’s memories!
