From the post:
PAUL NICHOLLS saidon Wednesday it would take an “amazing performanceâ€
October 11, 2007 at 20:32 #119063Yessss
I think he would have a job against MWDS perhaps (but who hasnt performed well at Aintree i recall…for what its worth)
October 11, 2007 at 20:38 #119067It would be a great start to the season. Kauto wins for me if he’s fit enough. He’s immense at Aintree, I think it suits him.
October 11, 2007 at 20:47 #119070Really looking forward to this one if it happens.
Did I read somewhere that Nicholls was toying with the idea of the Tingle Creek again this season? The RP stated his targets as the obvious ones of Betfair Chase, King George and then Gold Cup so perhaps I imagined it
October 11, 2007 at 21:54 #119077I’d have to fancy Monet’s Garden – he loves Aintree and 2 and a half miles is his optimum distance.
October 11, 2007 at 22:00 #119078I thought Paul Nicholls said that Denman was likely to go for the Betfair.
October 11, 2007 at 22:01 #119079I’ll lay Kauto from now till the race.He quite simply HAS NOT GOT A PRAYER!! I would love to be wrong though. If he has anything going for him its the track.20 lbs is a p*** take.I would save him.
October 11, 2007 at 22:09 #119080no, Denman going to Wetherby – when was the last time we had such competitive racing right at the start of the season!
October 11, 2007 at 22:22 #119083I didnt know there was a fixture in 17 days involving KS.
My favourite horse would beat him though (My Way De Solzen),
Think My Way is being targetted for Kempton on Boxing Day though.
October 11, 2007 at 22:59 #119084Either way you have to give connections respect for running him if he turns up.. Its the first time since i’ve been watching jumps racing that a true Grade 1 horse will be running in a handicap off his proper rating (there have obviously been grade 1 horses running in handicaps before – Exotic dancer last year).

Dream on guys!
If either or both turn up, it will be nothing more than a warm-up.October 12, 2007 at 02:15 #119089I dont want to see Kauto get beat.I think he’s a phenomenon that has to be protected! I like to think the world of racing will never see his equal ever again
He’ll surely be the highest rated chaser ever when stops.October 12, 2007 at 02:20 #119090LET ME DREAM.I WANT TO DREAM.
October 12, 2007 at 07:34 #119100Really looking forward to this one if it happens.

It was considered for a while, I think. However, in another paragraph from the same interview, Nicholls mentioned that the gap between the King George and the Tingle Creek is shorter enough this year (compared to last) to have dissuaded him from aiming Kauto Star at both.
The view is taken that to send the gelding out in the Betfair Chase, King George and Tingle Creek all within the space of six weeks would not be too fair on him.
No matter – we’re still looking at the champion racing at least four times this term, five if something such as the AON Chase is taken in between Kempton and Cheltenham.

Perhaps should have read the article rather than looking at the pictures!
October 12, 2007 at 09:59 #119128just perhaps we’ll be looking back on this season in the future the way that we look back to the glory days of Arkle, Mill House et al…maybe the bubble will burst early on but if not what a few months we’ve got to look forward to!…..mo
October 12, 2007 at 10:11 #119134I’m a huge fan of Kauto Star (needs to improve his jumping lol ) but pigs will fly before he is able to give each his Gold Cup contemporaries lumps of weight, let alone up to 35 Ibs weight concession and still hand out a sound thrashing to them.
Only one Arkle – truly in a class of his own.
