Anyone know of places available in Cheltenham Town for the November meeting.
Thanks
October 9, 2007 at 16:36 #118726Hi mate.
I have actually got someone who lives in Cheltenham coming back to me later today with some ideas for accomodation.
When he lets me know, i will post on here for you if that helps.
October 9, 2007 at 17:14 #118739hi conall,
good luck, think you are leaving it a bit late though. if you are still struggling i can give you half a dozen phone numbers of guest houses in town where i’ve stayed before. send us a pm if you need them.October 9, 2007 at 17:20 #118740Hello,
I don’t think you will have any problem for the November meeting. I have always found the Tourist Office extremely helpful. They are seasoned experts on the racing fan’s needs.
If they suggest a "private home" rather than a hotel, don’t dismiss lightly.
These are usually large households [Cheltenham is full of big, old houses, previously owned by ex-Colonials’ returning with the spoils of the empire].I have stayed within a quick pint of the town centre during the March Festival for as low as £25 a night, albeit that was ten years ago, but I still believe they are extremely reasonable.
The rooms are spacious, and you may have exclusive use of a bathroom.
Also try the Travel Lodge site, you could pick up a room for £19.00 per night during their ongoing sale.
I am assuming you are going with the "lads". If travelling with lady folk, your choice maybe limited to somewhere expensive, pink, with chocolates on the pillow….I am afraid I cannot [or will not?
] help you there!
But overall you shouild be OK in November..
regards,
doyley

Yes I agree been going to Cheltenham since 1995 and have never experienced such a shortfall in accommodation.
A few friends pointing me in the right direction or the Tourist Board appear to be the way forward.
Thanks again for all help
Best
October 10, 2007 at 09:52 #118814you could do a ‘Jimmy the Hat’ and sleep on the couch at the Queens Hotel as a non paying guest for @ 20 years! Failing that drop in there for a guinness, what an great atmosphere
October 10, 2007 at 10:05 #118818Conall’s no stranger to waking unexpectedly in the Queen’s Hotel when he thinks he ought to be in a different country. “What’s going……this isn’t my bedroom…..Maaaammy!!!”
October 10, 2007 at 14:53 #118876Ah yes, and that was early too, wasn’t it??!!
You’ll be lucky, Conall m’dear, I’m trying to find somewhere at the moment and failing miserably! It may well be Cirencester for me, shall we move the party there??!!!
October 10, 2007 at 15:29 #118888Luckily for me my parents live not far from the course, but check out the web, there are plenty of houses, B&B, etc on the web offering very good rates…..
I hope to be there next Fri, just got to get someone to cover my shift at work…(was meant to be off!)
October 10, 2007 at 15:42 #118890Hey Conall,
This is a useful site.
Also, http://www.tripadvisor.com would be useful. Are you over for long?
Andrew
