trying not to eat bread at the moment because it does make me fat ish, and unfortunately when I get fat ish I don’t look like la belle Nigella, just look….fat. In my earth mother years I tried the bread making bit and it just came out like concrete, but having just had my first grandson feel the earth mother stuff creeping back…..maybe grandson will have to get used to granny with guinness in hand reading the racing post but will buy packet of jammie dodgers which he will love…..
hmmm…didn’t realise so many men watched cookery programmes; think the general agreement is that it’s a bit of a silly programme cookery wise – but I bet you’ll all be watching it next week!!!
Always prefer the jumps – however one year I happened to be in Birmingham visiting relatives and we watched the Royal Academy Breeders Cup on the telly which was awesome. But the year of the duels between Sunday Silence and Easy Goer was amazing, and one race in particular stayed in my mind as one of the greatest races I’d ever seen, neither horse would give in…it’s only recently that I’ve been able to watch them again on utube [and even then in stop/start mode because my computer isn’t very good] and I just blubber!
Sunday Silence 1989 – is that against Easy Goer? what a year that was!!
what, for example will happen when Kauto Star, Denman and possibly Star de Mohaison and Neptune Collonges all run in the Gold Cup; which jockeys will he use?
remember seeing a programme about John Diamond when he was very ill, I think he wrote a newspaper column about his illness – what was terribly sad was that they obviously had this amazing social life revolving around wonderful meals with brilliant conversation and he lost his voice and had to type everything down, but was very brave and made me feel rather humble. still think however that this current programme is silly but may mimic it when cooking the christmas dinner [last years was ‘this isn’t just food, this is m&s food’ well, most of it was] – by the way UM am very impressed with ability to cook bread…..
I can’t remember her husband’s name, he was a pretty good journalist wasn’t he, but she’s now married to Charles Saatchi isn’t she?
He’s got a job on keeping all of his owners happy! Think Ferdy Murphy may give him a run for his money later in the year, but I know what you mean, what a season we’ve got ahead of us, can’t wait.
just got back from the cinema [Atonement;v. good] and remembered that pure white sprinter Absolution……
there was a race at Cheltenham when McCoy wasted down to get the weight and got beat, can’t remember the horses name…
Many thanks!
yes, I’m always curious about the offspring of some of the racemares that I’ve followed over the years, and it’s a case of trawling through the internet. Seem to remember a mating between Dayjur and the mare that beat him at the breeders cup and wonder how successful the resulting foal was, and I’ve always been fascinated by the ‘Dove’ line of horses, also Dubacilla and Lady Rebecca…
I do think that racecourses should look at their admission fees – we went to Bangor on Saturday [it’s our ‘start of the season meeting’ every year] and had a really good day, but I was a bit irritated to see that we’d paid more than we would have done at Chepstow which was a much better card, and we don’t go to Uttoxeter anywhere near as often as we used to because of the cost….
did they have their carpets with them?
has anyone ever heard any music by Connie Dover? she’s got the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard….
Is High Cotton still a maiden after all these years?
I am very very impressed – was working out today that I’ve been on a diet for 90% of my life! can you give me any tips [or was water the clue?]
