I like Nigella
and her new recipe book is full of great, comfort eating stuff. However, the stylised editing and camera work used on her programmes renders them almost unwatchable.
October 18, 2007 at 11:44 #120251hmmm…didn’t realise so many men watched cookery programmes; think the general agreement is that it’s a bit of a silly programme cookery wise – but I bet you’ll all be watching it next week!!!
October 18, 2007 at 12:14 #120256hi moehat,
I enjoy making bread, although I’ve also tried it with a machine, which for me produces a fairly tasteless loaf. Machines are fine I think for busy families who need fresh bread every morning but I prefer to take a little more time and do my own. One thing you realise is how much salt you have to use to make it palatable, too little and things just don’t work and it tastes quite bland. I wouldn’t recommend more than a thin slice or two a day for anyone dieting or watching their salt intake.
I doubt you’ll see bread in any jockey’s lunchbox, would you?
October 18, 2007 at 13:35 #120278trying not to eat bread at the moment because it does make me fat ish, and unfortunately when I get fat ish I don’t look like la belle Nigella, just look….fat. In my earth mother years I tried the bread making bit and it just came out like concrete, but having just had my first grandson feel the earth mother stuff creeping back…..maybe grandson will have to get used to granny with guinness in hand reading the racing post but will buy packet of jammie dodgers which he will love…..
October 20, 2007 at 13:09 #120631guinness? urgh, that’s vile stuff…lol…you must have a sterner constitution than me. I only use guinness in a cake and like any alcohol, that’s the best place for it, for me. Perhaps I shouldn’t mention the word cake to you at the moment mo

guinness!…how can you?
