It’s pretty commendable how they are able to switch production though, even if it means they can’t always be at the right racecourse. They always manage to be at Kelso, something that previous channels never did to my knowledge ( happy to be corrected).
To be fair to Kelso it was ladies day and looked pretty busy, very much a festive family day out( thankfully wasn’t there and didn’t watch it on WHill as Wise Eagle was in the race). My son asked me to take my granddaughter racing when she went through her pony phase but I refused, saying I was worried that she might witness a fatality. One of my first visits to a raceourse was when Kingsmill had a fatal fall in front of me at Aintree and I nearly walked away from the sport, I was so upset. I think fatalities and injuries are publicised more than they used to be as I used to take my daughter and her friends racing without worrying; I was pretty ignorant about fatalities back then ( pre internet). Difficult to get the balance right, I guess. Need to acknowledge what has happened without putting people off having a day at the races as it is probably the most family friendly of sports.
Can’t stand muck Lynch since he told everybody to vote for Brexit.
How awful. To me he epitomised what flat racing was all about. Does anyone know what happened to him?
Of course I think you mentioned that. I can only assume he picked up an injury in that last race which proved to be untreatable.
Oh no. A name I always look out for in sprint handicaps. RIP
I did listen to the winning song afterwards. To me it sounded like a generic version of every other Eastern European Eurovision entry over the years but not one of the good ones ( which I usually like).
I’m having to boycott it I’m afraid. First time ever and it’s making me really miserable having to do so but I can’t look to be supporting it. Maybe my conscience will let me watch it on catchup if Israel get nil points?
Thanks Jac. Fingers crossed he’ll be ok. I hoped at first it was a tack problem.
Any updates on Weeheedd? I keep looking for one but thus far can’t find anything.
I have a friend ( well acquaintance really) who is all over Restore. A farmers daughter who is angry with the way that the government have treated farmers and how they’re going to ban trail hunting but still allow animals to be killed in abattoirs without stunning. A friend of mine always used to point out how there is a lot of talk about the urban poor but forget about the rural poor. I met someone at the races a few months ago who worked at a hunting yard looking after the horses and I have worried ever since at the thought that she might lose her job.
Does Burnham propose proportional representation? And would he still want it if leader of a party with a huge majority? Corbyn says Burnham isn’t as radical as people seem to think he is. Having said that I think I love Caroline Lucas even more than I did before ( if that is possible!). Pure class.

They’re all so different and special in their own way. I don’t think people realise what a posh place Southwell is. I’d love to live there but it does flood quite badly. Longchamp was the best value. Mike was going to take me to the Melbourne Cup one year but our dog was getting old and I wasn’t prepared to leave her in kennels for several weeks. We’ve got a lockdown dog now that can’t be left home alone so the only track we go to is Kelso because it’s so dog friendly. My least favourite was Chepstow, didn’t like the lay out of the place especially the pre parade ring which is usually my go to place on a racetrack. Worst place for finding winners was Punchestown and that hasn’t changed in the intervening years.I think this was the plan all along because the party have never been behind Keir. And Burnham was sniping at the sidelines from the start. Reckon that people have been promised all sorts of things to get him in No 10. I’m disgusted with the party.
I was listening to the race on racing radio and heard that he had been pulled up quickly and dismounted. The only NH race I listened to today. I was so hoping it wasn’t as bad as it sounded. RIP
I think it’s lovely that the final bet was because of your dad. It’s not the sort of thing that non racing people would understand but it adds a little bit of magic to it. I once spoke to a stable lass who said she always thought her horses ( Madame Dubois) previous lad was looking down on her whenever she ran as she only ever won by a whisker.
Why didn’t Burnham just decide to stand at the last election given that Labour were pretty much guaranteed a win? Hedging his bets?
