Just wondering if this is possible? Sportin Life:

"Sheikh Mohammed will probably decide this week what to do. I don’t know what will happen, but he won’t race for us any more – the Arc was his last race for us"

So would there be a chance of him racing in new colours next season or is that a no no?

well he was bought for sheik Mo but hasn’t even raced in his colours yet (the green jacket are the colours of Saleh Al Homzai). Was purchased by Mo before the Arc and he dosent exactly need the cash from another G1 success next year so my guess – it’ll be retirement for a life in fields with lady horses.

    sorry……….., no inside information here!!

From what i have read, i dont think he will.

Im reading in between the lines really in regards to what has been said so i might be totally wrong, but it seems that he wont race again, which is a massive shame.

    From the racing post:

John Ferguson, Sheikh Mohammed’s bloodstock advisor, said: “Decisions on the stallion’s location and fees for next year will bemade early next week, when we have had a chance to judge the market.â€

I can’t see Darley keeping him in training in case he declines to the extent that Hurricane Run did.

After the disappointment of Authorized’s arc run, the bitterness in the air (due to the fact that the horse hasn’t retired on a high and that we haven’t really seen what he’s truly capable of) is lingering like a bad fart. I kinda sense that there’s an invisible force at work urging connections to give Authorized another go on the course.

    Fingers crossed.

Sadles Wells colts, for what i’ve seen so far in my 15 years of racing, dont seem to train on generally. This seems to be the case too with Montjeu’s offspring.Hurricane Run and Motivator being recent ones and im sure the forum could mention a good few more. Its all about stud value nowadays so racing managers and owners dont like to expose any negatives in their stock.I dont think we’ll see a top class 3 yo by above mentioned stallions stay in training for a fourth year.Having said this,Godolphin have no flag bearer at the moment and could take a gamble with Authorized in their battle with coolmore.I hope they do…now back to my Power Rangers!

Is that the same Hurricane Run that won a King George as a 4yo? And finished third in the Arc?

I’d consider his profile to be regressive. Wouldn’t you ?

His last two runs weren’t his best, but Racing Post Ratings and Timeform don’t back up your assertion.

His highest rating, attained when beating a 2 1/2 miler, was some way in excess of anything else he achieved and bar those last two runs, his 4yo efforts were on a par with what he achieved at three.

If winning is the benchmark, then he was regressive, but perhaps he just ran against better horses in his 4yo campaign.

It’s no wonder connections retire 3yos if winning a King George at 4 isn’t enough to prevent a horse’s reputation from taking a hit.

Montjeu and Hurricane Run have similar profiles profile. World beaters at three and high-class until Arc day at four. At which point they both train off and start to lose interest. I am being unfair to Hurricane run…he was a high class horse; my point was that his final two runs rather took the gloss off his career..I don’t expect Darley to risk the same thing happening to Authorised. Otherwise he’ll be competing for the mares that Darley sires like Refuse to Bend and Doyen are already serving.

I’m fascinated by the comment that Sadler’s Wells’ offspring generally don’t train on. Exactly how many 4 and 5yo Group and Grade One winners does a sire need to prove his progeny are capable as older horses?

    High Chaparral – Group 1 winner at 2, 3 and 4.
    Refuse to Bend – ditto
    Montjeu himself – 3 Group 1s as a 4yo.
Barathea – Breeders’ Cup winner as a 4yo.
    In The Wings – ditto
Yeats – now a 6yo and not exactly in decline.
Kayf Tara – also just as good at 6.
In general, Sadler’s Wells’ stud career is littered with top class older horses who have won Gr.1s – Opera House, Doyen, Northern Spur, Black Sam Bellamy, Powerscourt, Saddlers’ Hall, Daliapour, Beat Hollow, Saddex this year….

Many others, such as Galileo, gave no evidence as to whether they would train on or not, as they were retired on their merits at 3. SW has had his share of his profile disappointments and early retirements, but no more than his percentage, given the sheer number of top horses he has sired.

As for Montjeu, it is a little early – given his eldest are only 5 – to claim his progeny don’t train on. He has had 7 Gr.1 winners to date, of which Hurricane Run, Scorpion, Corre Caminos, Montare and Sharvasti all won Group 1 races at 4 years or older. Papal Bull has proved himself equally competant at 3 and 4 years, as have Gallant Guru and Growl in Australasia.

So basically, I don’t agree. But I do agree that we probably won’t see Authorized again – mainly because Darley are very keen to have such a high profile individual under their stallions banner as soon as possible.

Hit the nail on the head there Sal. Darley will want these stallions producing progeny they can race (and support at the sales) as soon as possible.

It should certainly be an interesting year for first season sires when the likes of Teofilo, Authorized, Manduro, etc have their first progeny go through the ring and also on the track. I would imagine Coolmore will heavily support Dylan Thomas with top quality mares….even more so than usual. He will be their standard baring first season sire again the Darley bunch.

Of the horses I have mentioned Sal how do you rate them as stallion prospects.

O’Brien said it all when he said we hope he’s our next Danehill…..

Coolmore know they need to replace him and Sadlers Wells isn’t going to be about that much longer either..
