Incidentally the set of three fights matt Hughes v George st Pierre are the finest to grace the octagon and really show the sports MMA transition.

Seems a lot if ignorance about it here still. Interest really took off in the uk when Michael bisping won TUF several years ago. He has gone on to coach on the show. Sadly there is nowhere here to watch it in the uk since setanta folded. I don’t have sky sports though, so it may be on there. I live near bristol and there’s regular MMA bouts in Weston super mare to enjoy – It’s certainly a sport rising in popularity but Dana White should endeavour to keep it on uk screens at this crucial time in it’s growth.

Hey bulwark, I have been a fan of the UFC since back in the days of the cabbage! The sport has really evolved into a relevant form of gladiatoral combat where two fighters engage, adhering to a set of rules much less arbitrary than say boxing or wrestling. The technical aspect of the sport is second to none and I for one find the sport much more safety orientated than boxing, where a fighter needs to have his brain continually pummelled against his(or her!) skull throughout a fight. The days when a fighter could rely on any one school of combat such as jujitsu or wrestling are gone and we are seeing the emergence of a new breed. GSP is simply groundbreaking in his division and here we can see the progression since the domination of wrestler matt Hughes.
I was watching the sport on setanta until it folded, where are you watching it now bulwark?

Wow. I ignored this thread based on it’s title but when it reached 9 pages long I just had to look. Fascinatingly entertaining stuff particularly from Craig who has restored my opinion of those defending the American dream…..

Yes he has been put up on a tipping line. At 18’s or so i would put him about right. A lot better than My Will at 6’s.

I’m not sure denman is backable in this. If he drifts then I don’t want to know him and if he’s supported he will be too short. An early double is the only option I guess but at this stage I see no certainty to double him with.

If you toss a coin twice the probability of it falling heads or tails both times is exactly the same as it falling one of each. However if you toss a coin 100 times you will probably drop it.

I will take your invitation to bet against him. CH is the first horse i rule out of this race from a punting perspective. Too short a price on the wrong track and the wrong ground shortly after being pushed to his limit at Cheltenham to hold off Bino. This is clearly a secondary target for the horse and i dont suppose for one minute we would see him entered had he won the Cheltenham renewal.

Too much weight for me, and I am yet to see Paul nicholls as a trainer who has the regime honed enough to train a winner in this unique race. Butlers has a chance but realistically his circumstances were more favourable last year. Rambling minster takes the best form and profile into this race and has a terriffic jumping record. I can’t have SOP around Aintree either. RM for the win, my will may place.

I’m not sure what you were expecting pulsatrix as you offered nothing to discuss. Good luck though with your punting.

The best handicapped on evident form IC. Trouble is any Irish horse showing their true form is probably in fact the worst handicapped in the race!
