March 31, 2009 at 15:28 #219386The law of probabilty ( if such a thing exists
) suggests that Al Elie’s annual trip to Aintree’s winners’ enclosure will come to a halt on saturday. Surely !
Voy Por Ustedes is my nap of the meeting. I think he can atone for his Rynair failure.

March 31, 2009 at 16:15 #219396The law of probabilty ( if such a thing exists
)Sure it does – it’s called the Law of Averages. An example is where if a coin is tossed and comes up heads then it’s more likely that tails will come up the next time!
It’s just good common sense really!
March 31, 2009 at 16:31 #219400Without a shadow of a doubt Comply or Die and Butlers Cabin have been less than 100% fit all season.
I might be being picky but I don’t consider a horse who won last time out to be laid out for a race. The two above haven’t been off a yard all year. Hebridean obviously missed Cheltenham to run here but he’s fully exposed now.
I also think PN and Co. resigned themselves to the fact Denman wasn’t going to win the Gold Cup and they had the Betfair in mind for him for some time.

I have a friend who likes to think of himself as a mathematical genius. Got the big uni degree for maths and all that. He once pulled me up for uttering the phrase, the law of averages.
" No such thing", he grunted… it’s the law of large numbers ! "
Hey, what do I know.

He is a pedant though, which may be his only excuse

March 31, 2009 at 17:23 #219403If you toss a coin twice the probability of it falling heads or tails both times is exactly the same as it falling one of each. However if you toss a coin 100 times you will probably drop it.

The previous outcome (heads) has no effect on the following outcome.

.
Butlers Cabin has probably not been 100% so he can be at his peak for the Grand National.
His run at Cheltenham made him spot on for me as they only wanted him to get a good run and a blowout.
JP owns the horse and this is the race he wants to win so Jonjo will be making sure that this long season plan comes up tops.
Comply or Die had his day in the sun and wont be winning another race in his career.
March 31, 2009 at 23:17 #219444I think that Starluck will be very hard to beat in the 4 yo hurdle. He was the only horse still on the bridle in the triumph swinging in. I knew at that point he still had a lot ot do as he is a speed horse and was scared the hill might still find him out. Obviously it did, Liverpool will suit him to a Tee and he’d be my nap of the meeting.
March 31, 2009 at 23:41 #219447Shame this thread has rather got sidetracked – Silk Hall would be interesting if he takes up either of his entries. I do wonder what price he will be though as I suspect quite a few will see him as the shrewd option against the favourites.
I see my old friend Lidar has an entry in the bumper. No doubt connections are pondering how rough the race will be for him! I suspect he will go off nearer 3/1 than the 66/1 on offer for Cheltenham.
April 1, 2009 at 00:20 #219450Not my favourite horse but I fancy State of Play and he has definitely been laid out for it.
Catch Me looks to have been as well but unless there is a downpour he won’t win. Al Eile, who has also been laid out for it, has a very good chance in my opinion.
Fanshawe seems to have missed Cheltenham on purpose with Song of Songs who looks to have a very good chance of placing at least.
Would agree on Starluck as well but he hasn’t been laid out for it.
Also interesting is that Hobbs has put Flint back on Fair Along and in receipt of 4lb from Big Buck’s and others he should also be a good place bet.
April 1, 2009 at 12:31 #219485Dinarius has been laid out for Aintree. Was no more than 75% fit when beaten by Silk Hall at Stratford after a lay off. Has not stopped improving since and at a likely huge price will be a shrewd ew bet.
April 2, 2009 at 12:04 #219642best bet for today is Trust Fund in the Fox Hunters .. !!
