WTF!!!!!!!!
Will somebody bludgeon this thread to death with a big stick please.
You cannot make a debate if you do not listen to what others are saying. This is just a factual table. Value is subjective and if you pick loosers there is no value.
Question. Agnes Haddock spends a few minutes or so picking horses by names she likes, spends a few quid and is a millionaire. Somone else spends hours and hours of their days analysing form, spending alot more money gambling without making any serious cash. Who has found the value and who is the mug punter?

For some people the value is in enjoying the sport of horseracing not just the gambling.
Felt a bit sorry for Agnes Haddock on the ML. Someone should tell her she is missing out and not a value punter

I find all of this as dull as a dull, dull thing!!!!!!!!

Is that because you’ve heard/seen it all before Kevin? You obviously don’t find it that dull or you would’nt have contributed to the thread?
This value debate rears its head all the time marb. Its not really new. I remember way back in the C4 forum days animated discusssion on value which to be honest I am all for. Animated discusion on this forum that is.
Its the whole approach I find dull marb, not the discussion.
I find all of this as dull as a dull, dull thing!!!!!!!!

I think many people are on this thread saying exactly the same thing and most of it is all glaringly obvious. This holy grail "value" concept is like fine wine. Loads of bollocks talked about that as well but if you like one who is to tell you that you don’t. Its all subjective and everyones perception of odds and chances will differ.
Suppose if you are into horse racing mainly for gambling then fine go for it. If you are into horse racing mainly for other reasons then your perception of value may be different. Some may label the latter group "mug punters". A label that might equally apply to someone obsessed by gambling and spending 12 hours a day analysing form and systems.

With respect Ginger you should try to be a little more objective and listen to the constructive critism that is being offered here.
Value is in backing winners. An 18% strike rate on your previous bets does not necessarily mean that you future strike rate will be similar. Horses are not machines and neither are punters. Its not like a flick of a coin with few variables. Horses & punters have bad days and few punters want to be as disciplined and work that hard.
Value is subjective. I might think a horse is good or bad value and that will determine if I choose to bet or not or how much I will bet. you may disagree. Much of what you say takes all the fun out of this game.
Gamble what you can afford to loose and there is no problem.
Looks like its true about the pay out. Not sure about the 45 million euros bit.
Pasted from the Paddy Power site where Obama is now 11/8, Clinton is 8/15
"It doesn’t occur often, but Paddy has been caught with his trousers down. Our bright spark boss insisted after the Iowa Caucus, "Barack Obama won’t be caught now; no one will beat him in New Hampshire." After paying out on the Illinois senator to become the Democratic Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton must have taken the brash move to heart. Much like her husband, who also lost in Iowa, she made a dramatic comeback with victory in the New Hampshire Primary. Speaking about her win, she said, "Let’s give America the kind of comeback that New Hampshire has just given me." Will her revival continue to see her become the next US President? View our Election microsite!"
Just back from Ireland this week. I read in an Irish broadsheet last Tuesday that Paddy Power has closed the book and paid out on Obama winning the Democrat nomination. I’m sure it said they paid out something like 45 million Euro (can that possibly be right???).

Dohhhhhhhhhhhhh!

We have our own problems vote counting after the last electronic counting farce in Scotland.
I have also been taking an interest in this "show". Obama has a "bounce" from Iowa which has got Clinton worried and may get another on in Hampshire which will make him odds on to win in Super Tuesday.
It all just seems a little shallow to me. All glitzy show biz, sound bites and no substance. A bit like what the press are trying to do with the main party leaders over here. God help us……
Wonder what will happen here when Lizzie pops her clogs? Cannot see much of an acceptance for any of her spouses taking over as head of state. Do you think we will be heading for a Presidency or are we nearly there already i.e. President Blair & Brown?
I do not read Fox Hunters Magazine Daisey!

The family wheeled Grandma out onto the lawn, in her wheelchair, where the activities for her 100th birthday were taking place. Grandma couldn’t speak very well, but she would write notes when she needed to communicate.
After a short time out on the lawn, Grandma started leaning off to the right, so some family members grabbed her, straightened her up, and stuffed pillows on her right.
A short time later, she started leaning off to her left, so again the family grabbed her and stuffed pillows on her left.
Soon she started leaning forward, so the family members again grabbed her, then tied a pillowcase around her waist to hold her up.
A nephew who arrived late came up to Grandma and said, "Hi, Grandma you’re looking good! How are they treating you?"
Grandma took out her little notepad and slowly wrote a note to the nephew…"They won’t let me fart."

I have to agree with Danny here in that I thought BJK was running well until he really flattened that hurdle. Thought the horse was lucky to stay up. I am not saying that he would have won but it probably blew any chance he had.
To give our forum a better chance I will decline this bit of fun
Go TRF!!!!!!!!!!While that was a great race to watch I do not think it confirms more than we already knew. Denman is clearly a very good horse, excellent jumper but still quite a few pounds behind KS. I think 2/1 is a ridiculous price at the moment. It should be 2/1 just to get to the GC sound.
Some very interesting thoughts posted and it looks to me as though all depends on the ground, the size of the field and the tactics in the GC to determine how easily KS will win. At the moment it looks a race for second place or the rest waiting for KS to make that big mistake.
Whatever I have not totally given up on Exotic Dancer. A better horse at Cheltenham only a few lengths behind KS. might just get the luck in running especially if some of them take each other on early.
I love this game!!!!

Neither! A race to sit back and enjoy. Should be a cracker.
I hope Denman wins impressively .
Question is was LD slowing down as well? I though HE made up some ground on LD from the turn then eased very slightly when could not win. Would Inglis Dreaver have confirmed his form with Special Envoy and still have been behind HE & LD
Something just does not ring true about that race to me.Agreed Paul,
Its a no bet for me otherwise.
Not sure about this right handed issue and ED ran really well for Jonjo last time out. Whatever the bookies will not be quaking in their boots with what I stake.
I fancy Exotic Dancer to beat Kuato this time. Just a fancy but there should not be much between them and if Kuato is not as good as last year or Exotic Dancer is still improving then if may be a decent bet.
World’s greatest prank call! have a look at this and enjoy
