Miles better over hurdles? Whats that based on?!

Jessies Dream had only two runs over the smaller obstacles, winning a maiden hurdle with the minimum of fuss and then beat the 149 rated Noble Prince easily. I know Time For Rupert was 2nd in the World Hurdle but there was shag-all in behind him.

The point about the track is valid but you have to take the chance on a lot of horses going to Cheltenham for the first time. Obviously Time For Rupert handles the track so thats a positive for him. He does set the standard. Jessies Dream could well improve for the conditions, with 3 miles and the likely better ground in his favour.

The Irish novices may not look anything hectic in your eyes, but Chicago Grey chased him home last time and

I reckon Elliot rates Jessies Dream as vastly superior.

Time For Rupert is quite rightly the favourite, but the disparity in price between the two horses is more than it should be.

He does!He thinks jessies dream is far and away his best horse-he thinks jessies an absolute machine and can go on to be anything so………

Ah Gordon’s a good man for a gamble surely and i regularly get word and am definitely in profit but money does go to waste from time to time,3 that come to mind are Imperial storm, hesaposer and only the other day Trendelenburg had the money down and didn’t deliver! :(

They thought beautiful sound had a decent e/w chance yesterday but don’t think they were on, i’d say the odds getting cut had a lot to do with the fact a Gordon Elliot horse got in as a reserve and few people seen odds shortening and it snowballed from there!

Just like when Cooldine and Forpadytheplasterer filled the first two places in the Dr.PJ.Moriarty Chase a couple of years ago, I think there’s a chance we’ve seen the Arkle and RSA winner in this race.

Jessie’s Dream has always been held in high regard and, given the fact that he’ll improve for the step up in trip and better ground, will give Time For Rupert plenty to think about.

Today I was very impressed with Realt Dubh, that was the best performance by an Irish 2 mile novice chaser so far this year imo. Obviously if Willie can get Mikael D’Haguenet back to 100% he’ll play a big part in either race. He looked to have Jessie’s Dream’s goose cooked the last day but I guess we’ll never know.

The English novices don’t look anything special to me and the difference in price between Time For Rupert and Jeesie’s Dream in particular is quite baffling. 7/2 and 14/1

SSSSSHHHHHH!Keep it quiet, ive been backing jessie this months, only little fivers and tenners e/w every few weeks at as high as 25/1 but will work out nice if he pulls it off on the day! The longer they keep him at a big price the better :D

Holy god my heart was in my mouth for that 1! Felt Robbie was very good in the last 2 furlongs but by god if he hadn’t won i would’ve been coursing him, felt there was no need for him to get himself so badly stuck in behind horses! But he won so all’s good!

Ah here what were the greedy fecks at?I got good word for it last night but told to wait until morning so not to ruin the price and hopefully would get 5’s or 6’s-can only get 7/4 at the minute :x Though they do expect the win and that could seem a nice price come this evening….. :?

I’m not sure if it was a seller, but if it was, I think this would take quite a bit of beating. 2008 Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire reappeared today in a £5,000 Handicap at Turffontein in South Africa, now under the care of Mike de Kock having left Coolmore a while back. He opened at 11-2 and drifted somewhat spectacularly to 15-1 before fly jumping leaving the stalls, however was running on in the last furlong when badly hampered and finished mid division.

Sad to see a horse like that ending up running at that kind of level  (though he brought a lot upon himself by having a mind of his own) Won me a fortune the day of the Irish Derby-Think i got him at 20/1 or very near it,biggest win ever from a single bet! :D

Denman ran an absolute cracker of a race!I was on Neptune collonges so had to switch my allegiance to Denman very early and for a moment about 4 out i thought he might pull it off but unfortunately it wasn’t to be!Looking at him at the end he looked absolutely exhausted, hopefully the break between now and March helps get him back in good form (Not too good mind you as i continue to back Kauto antepost)

Id have to say its completely for mugs if your objective is to consistantly win.

But in all seriousness most people back horses yes to win but more so for the excitement, craic

Anyway the easiest way to answet this question is just to look at Paddy Powers share price over the last 4/5 years.

They make money because of mugs, and looking at teir share price its quite obvious that 90% of their customers must be mugs

I’d say 90% is a consercative estimate,97/98% i’d say would be more like it!

Timmy is retained jockey for owner David Johnson Fran so he’ll be riding the horse when available.

    Martin

Now that does make sense cheers :D

Anyone know why Elliot’s took Timmy over to ride Jessies dream when Davy Condon’s not got a mount and is a good jockey and has ridden the horse 2 or 3 times previously whereas Murphy has never ridden him to my memory? Is it because Meade has Condon on standby for Realt Dubh if Carberry’s not available or any other ideas? :?

Dunno how he managed to gain the weight unless he had weights in his pockets!Deserves a fine as it leaves the everyday punter that backed the horse to win 2lb less likely to win!

    I’ve seen worse.

The horse was clearly unfit, his jumping went to pieces in the second half of the race and there didn’t seem to be much of a response when Ruby did ask for an effort.

Ah now i can’t agree with that it looked like ruby let him drop off the back and when there was no chance of winning the race he tried make it look like he was trying to give the horse a few proper reminders when he was really just doing something so he could say it to the stewards if questioned!

Yes it’s quite astounding how differently trainers get treated for similar antics, there are 3 trainers of the top of my head who would’ve been pulled up over a run like that and you eluded to one in your post quevega about pittoni, a certain G.E and T.M would’ve been spoken to of which im certain but sure it’s been going on for a long long time and its unlikely to ever change im afraid :x

The form of the American horse Sidney’s Candy looks very impressive.

He broke the track record in a Group 2 at Del Mar in his last race, his first on turf, winning unchallenged by 5 1/2 lengths, having raced keenly from the front.

Google him and ‘Del Mar’. There’s a YouTube video of the race. He didn’t beat the record by much, but he couldn’t have been all out at the finish – without any competition. Look how far ahead he is a little earlier.

He also broke the 5f track record there on the polytrack by a similar distance, as a maiden 2-year old, ridden just hands and heels.

Is that a racehorse or what!

Holy god i am very impressed,1 of the clips there he’s not even been half ridden out to the line and broke a track record!I was looking at going big on Goldi but think ill b having a smaller bet on her and a few quid e/w on Sidneys candy!

I like both of them and wouldn’t bother me if it ended a draw but watching the races each day i’ve been finding myself cheering hughes on whether i had backed him or not, whether it’s just rooting for the underdog or what i’m not sure!

No disrespect to Hadden Frost but McCoy got on great with Somersby at Sandown last year, doesn’t have a ride in the race but arrives for Rock Noir in the 3.05 (next race).

Why would he not be booked for a Grade 2 chase having ridden the horse before?

I’m presuming they’re keeping one eye on future races and they don’t think Mc Coy will be available to ride so are letting Hayden get to know the horse and how he rides!
