A nice easy gallop around Down Royal today after drifting out to 4-1 but a blind eye will be turned because certain people in irish racing are untouchable unlike others who are made examples of due to similar events eg : pittoni

November 5, 2010 at 18:25 #326394Yes it’s quite astounding how differently trainers get treated for similar antics, there are 3 trainers of the top of my head who would’ve been pulled up over a run like that and you eluded to one in your post quevega about pittoni, a certain G.E and T.M would’ve been spoken to of which im certain but sure it’s been going on for a long long time and its unlikely to ever change im afraid

I’ve seen worse.
The horse was clearly unfit, his jumping went to pieces in the second half of the race and there didn’t seem to be much of a response when Ruby did ask for an effort.

Ah now i can’t agree with that it looked like ruby let him drop off the back and when there was no chance of winning the race he tried make it look like he was trying to give the horse a few proper reminders when he was really just doing something so he could say it to the stewards if questioned!
November 5, 2010 at 19:40 #326413Is part of racing….
He prob wasn’t even half fit so even if ruby battered him he wouldn’t have got closer.
The question has to be asked with willie and AOB is it okay to school unfit horses on the course?
November 6, 2010 at 01:25 #326472This was a v poor run today and far from an ideal start to the season. If you watch closely I think that this horse was very unhelpful to Ruby today. He seemed to be hanging for the last mile and at one stage Ruby resorted to giving him a couple of severe smacks down the right shoulder to straighten him which didn’t seem to work. He then allowed him to coast home and he was well beaten at this stage.
Ye may be right that the plan was for him to be given an easy race but for me this was a poor showing and he was well beaten.
