Drop him back in trip and if he settles going that bit quicker off an early pace then he will have more energy to use at the finish – otherwise, just let him roll from the front and see how that suits him, it wouldn’t surprise me if 5F ends up being his trip ridden that way.

There is also the possibility that he was just a very precocious mature 2 yr old that didn’t have as much developing to do from 2 to 3 and now finds that his contemporaries have simply caught up and/or surpassed him in that process.

He’s got so much speed that he should be turning up on Derby Day… in the 3yo Dash

Mr Waterville had a walk around under lights at Pakenham tonight , he is getting slower , must be a few goes over hurdles soon then surely they give up .

Nice to see THE LION IN WINTER win on its seasonal debut. Didn’t do a lot in front, but the sire never won by far.

I am quietly hopeful this horse can mirror DUKE OF MARMALADE in peaking at age 4 🤞. It is entered for the Lockinge, which should be a competitive race.

Mr Waterville does the job , 2nd Tuesday at Warrnambool and just won the Champion Novice today , bolted up . Looked decent bet after Tuesday , jumps slickly .
Interviewed part owner on TV after , he said after Tuesday and today’s decent prize they are only about one and half million behind on him !! .

    Oh dear. Albert flops again.

To his credit, he rallied bravely when headed, but a proper Group One horse should be dismantling this lot.

Flopped to my benefit I was on the winner who’s price drifted like a barge.

As Steve Mellish said on the RTV preview show, the horse is rated 107 but O’Brien is talking him up as if he is rated 120+.

O’Brien was already making excuses for him yesterday, even saying he might “run green”. On his fifth start?

It sounds to me like O’Brien knows he is not going to live up to the hype and sure enough he has been beaten by a horse rated 100.

It has got beyond tiresome with O’Brien now. If only someone in the racing media would grow a backbone and tell him.

Newbury today sums up why I have little interest in the Flat now. The latest Coolmore Champion the Wonder Horse beaten and the (admittedly impressive) Group 1 winner owned by someone who shouldn’t be allowed to be involved in the sport but is too powerful for the BHA to do anything about.

Thats more than a 1000/1 shot.
