I’ve applied four times now for help setting up the service but never had a response.
I remember a wonderful old horse, Eastern Destiny (?) who won his last race at the age of 17 and died of a heart attack shortly after passing the winning post. I thought that it was a great ending for a racehorse. But, hooray, The Tatling should be around for a good few years yet.
RIP, wonderful horse and sire. Could someone more expert than I explain the dominance of the Sadler’s Wells/Northern Dancer lines?
I’d noticed, didn’t make it any less sad, alas. Still dead.
I think it’s a case of the more EXPENSIVE the paper, the worse the racing coverage, and it’s why I seldom buy the Times, Telegraph, etc. these days. It is all very well when free papers like the London Evening Standard or very cheap papers like the 20p ‘i’ have limited coverage but I resent paying £1 – or the ludicrous prices of the weekend editions – for papers that think it’s O.K. to offer ‘selected races’.
Love him. Especially when he drops and smashes the trophy.
Thanks, Birdsnest, sounds like it is an ATR problem, then. I haven’t heard back from them but let’s hope someone is sorting things out.
Thanks, Dolus, I have Virgin. I am REALLY hoping that it’s an ATR blip and I don’t have to go through the nightmare of contacting Virgin. This is only happening when I record from 11.30 to 12.45 so that I can see Racing News and Get On; it doesn’t affect any other channels and I seem to be able to record anything else on ATR. Is it really just me?
Surely I can’t be alone in suddenly being unable to record Racing News and Get On? Instead, I get ‘Recording Paused’ and ‘Copy Protected’. Does anyone know why? I did e-mail ATR but haven’t had a reply yet.
I wonder if they’ll send her to Montjeu…
When Margot Did got trapped at the back of the other horses recently, I reflected that if Jamie Spencer had been up and not Hayley Turner, there would have been pages of vitriol about the ride. I wish the Spencer-haters could just give it a rest. There are a few jockeys I can’t stand but I don’t feel the need to go on and on about them…
Is it just me? Or is the whole Harry Findlay thing (and the man himself) really boring?
From yesterday’s Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop … -race.html
One fatality plus the injuries. I found it disturbing to watch and FF-d throughout. Bordlescott an an all-time fav so hoping he will be O.K.
He is actually a very good interviewer, adept at jollying his interviewees along and getting them to open up.
Matt Chapman, Robert Cooper and Derek Thompson are all great entertainment. Look at other sports and be grateful.
Re. nasty female presenters, my favourite was some years ago when Alex Hammond/Quinn/Hannon/I’m not sure of her current status/ was interviewing her co-presenter, Alice Plunkett, on the Racing Channel. Alice, in typical self-deprecating fashion, said she was worried about making the weight, to which Alex said that she could always take off her eye make-up…
