Just to back you up Matthew, I completely agree with your opinion of your namesake. Nuff sid, I’ve said it all before anyway.
Thanks fella.

Matthew,
I went to last Friday’s evening meeting at Chepstow. Unfortunately, for the entire evening I suffered Matt Chapman’s one dimensional interviews with the lady attendees. I know it was Ladies Night, and some very pleasant sights indeed, but if the Racecourse executives think these inane questions blasting over the PA add to the event I believe they are wrong. I appreciate that Mr Chapman is paid to do this, and probably not easy to do, but can’t it be restricted to minimal slots and not all evening over the PA.
Also, I went to the Dog Derby final and the same thing happened there all evening.
Next time I intended going to a meeting and was aware this would occur I would refrain from going. My racing buddies feel the same way. It would be interesting if anyone went to Chepstow last Friday and felt the same, or, conversely found the broadcast rewarding.
Rant over.

Why was he doing the dog derby final mate? I used to live in Raynes Park (nr.Wimbledon) and Chapman used to frequent a couple of shops I went to, I can only think he was the local attraction for some.

Agreed,
Matt is a fantastic character and a fine asset for ATR, other companies such as RUK and Channel 4 would only dream of having his qualities on their program – I think he’s easily worth 200k a year.

So making funny noises on racing shows (Chapman) is entertainment.
Laughable.
Serious punters really need to hear a joker like him larking about after
a race they’ve just done their coconuts on.July 14, 2010 at 21:50 #306499"Matthew01" wrote:

What about the the man/woman who has there £2 on the winner and Chapman gives a yeeeeeeeeha and they give a yeeeeeeeeeha and they’re over the moon.
July 14, 2010 at 21:59 #306500Matthew, your comment is laughable…So he therefore can’t have a laugh in case ‘someone has done their coconuts’. Lots of people have not done their coconuts so may want a laugh, me included. Lighten up

Serious punters want form analysis of the highest order from TV presenters, paddock shots, a parade before the start, the race off on time, sectional timing, jockeys riding how they want and the winners enclosure brought to their home if they’re watching on TV so they can be a part of it when they win, yes?
EDIT – Have you heard of the MUTE button?

I can see your point to be fair mate, my dad has a fiver once a while actually and would find Chapman but you surely can see that a serious punter ‘not me, I’m not a decent punter nevermind serious’ would get aggitated by Chapman’s yeeehaaa’s on a bad day.
And Crizzy, i love a laugh as you’ll see from my threads and posts, but tonight
I got a bit fed up with his grovelling to trainers etc.July 14, 2010 at 22:13 #306507Matt Chapman is not employed by the "SERIOUS PUNTERS ASSOCIATION." He is employed by a TV channel named AtTheRaces.

Fair enough but I’ve got a few mates that are "serious punters" and they are even harder on Matt than I’ve been on here, they can’t all be wrong.
However as TheHorsesMouth has said earlier, people like him, there’s been people that come on here that agree with me.
It’s all about opinions.
July 14, 2010 at 22:35 #306512I never realised Chapman did MC’ing at racecourses too, I’d run a mile if I ever found out he was going to be attending the same meeting as me.

Sorry, why would serious punters actually care about a man who is fairly open that he is not a "Serious Punter?" The most Chapman can do is offer an opinion and act a clown. The worst his opinion can be is "wrong" in someone’s view, and the worst his "clown" behaviour can be is just that. If he’s not there to be taken seriously, why take him seriously?

You said it "clown" behaviour, it gets on ‘some’ peoples nerves, others find it amusing.
Leave it at that.
