The amount of trash Matt Chapman has spouted today is beyond belief. I don’t know why we persevere with this clown. The viewer/punter deserves better.
What does the viewer/punter deserve better with? Endless tips that fail as part of the broadcast? No one knows the "right" way to present racing to the viewer/punter, because there are probably so many different types of viewers watching. When racing has Robert Cooper, Derek Thompson on the pay-roll, worrying about Chapman shouldn’t be something of priority.
Anyway, as someone who’s not able to watch currently, what burger vans has he been discussing today?
July 26, 2010 at 16:51 #308883I posted after he stated that J Spencer deserved the ride of the week award after almost putting the challenger over the rail at Yarmouth. He also stated that the reason they didn’t announce the result of the previous stewards enquiry for 35mins or so was that he had already stated there was no way IHHO the result would be reversed.
The guy talks bolloxs, that why I think the viewer deserves better.July 26, 2010 at 23:37 #308971Chapman gets my vote. He’s like the Partridge of racing; makes great tv. He’s not as daft as people make out either.
July 27, 2010 at 09:14 #309012Am in the Chapman corner here – if he was replaced with some TV suit (ie Mike Cattermole) i would watch the race and turn off, Chapman keeps me, for one, tuned in.

No business in the world would want every employee the same so why should ATR be any different, it’s always good to have a few nut jobs amongst the brains, the beauty etc

That moment when he started going on about people smoking fags getting ready for the party at Galway yesterday was really funny to be honest

Yeah, i’ll give you that. He has a place in the studio as a ‘talking piece’ but I like to hear relevant info with my racing as opposed to jolly banter. That stuff is best kept for studio discussion.
July 27, 2010 at 12:45 #309069The Sunday Forum is great. Should put it on for an hour and a half.

Indeed i think two hours would be even better Racing News that comes on after is a waste of time more often than not i reckon.
