What ‘some people’ don’t seem to understand is that when interviewing people you often have to play to their egos in order to get them to open up. If this comes over as Chapman fawning to them then you misinterpret the art of a professional interviewer.
Similarly, I could praise Matthew to the Heavens but after serious consideration I doubt whether I’d achieve a great deal. Some things in life are just a lost cause.
If Chappers gets up people’s arses then unfortunately that’s just the product of having been a public schoolboy. It comes with the territory.July 16, 2010 at 15:26 #306858What ‘some people’ don’t seem to understand is that when interviewing people you often have to play to their egos in order to get them to open up. July 16, 2010 at 15:39 #306861Matthew, where did I use the word ‘big’? We all have egos though obviously some people are not as aware of it as others. It’s certainly useful in understanding how we are seen by others, I think.
July 16, 2010 at 15:44 #306863I’m not gonna get involved in any confrontation, it’s clear what

July 16, 2010 at 16:48 #306879For what it’s worth, I’m guessing Matt Chapman couldn’t give two hoots on learning after reading this forum that he divides opinion … No s**t, Sherlock !!! … tell him something he didn’t already know

I would also suggest that anyone expecting him to change his presenting style as a result of comments on this forum shouldn’t hold their breath.

Matthew, for the record, I think the "Lad" part of my username might give you a clue as to my gender

… and … also for the record, I can confirm that "BurroughHill" (who I am assuming you are confusing me with) and myself are not a couple even though we are clearly in the same locality

July 16, 2010 at 19:32 #306905Good evening. There are indeed two of us. I should be renamed "Burrough Hill Lass" to avoid confusion.

And while I’m here:

Piffle, twoddle and balderdash.

As a ‘lass’ Burroughhill, you obviously don’t appreciate the innuendo and have never spent much time behind the bike sheds or in the dormitory at night. You don’t know what you’ve missed.
July 17, 2010 at 05:41 #306944Having gone to an all girl’s school…..no I haven’t spent a lot of time behind the bike sheds
July 26, 2010 at 16:26 #308873The amount of trash Matt Chapman has spouted today is beyond belief. I don’t know why we persevere with this clown. The viewer/punter deserves better.
July 26, 2010 at 16:34 #308875I’ve gotta be honest, I’ve laughed like mad at some of the things he’s come out with today, he’s been entertaining.
After one race, he passionately started calling a jockey a thief because he kicked on, off the turn at Wolverhampton

When the jockey got off the horse, he said something like "look at him, look at him smiling and you know why he’s smiling is because he’s become a thief!"

When they focused on the crowd at Galway around 3ish he started saying "look there’s a few people smoking Fags there, all getting ready for the party?!"
