    Hi Burrough Hill Lad
I am not making unsubstantiated allegations. All I am asking, despite taking a welter of criticism, is for anyone to explain to me, why the stellar trainers previously highlighted do not use the same tactics.
Regardless of the negative postings in reply, nobody has come up with a credible explanation.
    Let me explain further.
If we take a football analogy, if teams didn’t learn from the successful teams re training, diet, exercise etc. They would, generally be doomed to stay in teir perceived level.
I know that finance plays a part but without learning from the best you will never break into that model for success.
I have succeeded personally from learning from others and incorporating it into my own business profile.
Surely the same applies to getting the best from a racehorse as in any other business with your assets.
By the way, as some posters have erroneously posted earlier , I do have a background in horses etc.
Lets learn from and applaud excellence

Perhaps best that we agree to disagree mate.
If I was an owner of more limited means I would prefer to get maximum value for money by having a horse that was appearing on the track in its optimum condition rather than spending all the extra entry fees, travelling costs etc going all over the country when not at its best.
I have always found my horses to be better when healthy and happy

I concur OneEye about the merits of blood tests. I also agree that different horses can stand different amounts of racing.
What no-one seems to be able to provide a reason for however is why top trainers don’t tend to run their charges as often as 16 times in 6 months.
A race certainly isn’t the same as a training spin, as they are ridden harder in the finish, not to mention all the travelling etc
Running horses very often may not harm their welfare ( I am not a veterinary specialist or animal physiologist ), but that does not equate to them being at their absolute healthy best on a raceday

Thanks for your balanced response conundrum.
I thought that the beauty of this forum was to have a healthy discussion about the issues, not to merely dismiss others views without reasoned argument. I have no problem with others disagreeing with my views, but many of the responses are merely contradiction backed by no reasoning as to my view about the training methods of the master craftsmen of the training art

I am not even stating that my view is that running 16 times in 6 months is necessarily cruel, merely that if the top trainers give more time to rest between races, it is done for a reason. These top stables are not run as charities, but as businesses. They thrive and succeed because they produce the best results from the bloodstock that they are sent to train.

I cannot see how if this modus operandi gets the best results in better yards, then why on earth do the lesser stables not model themselves on the master trainers – they may even rise through the training ranks themselves if they did as surely their performance would improve.

I don’t think that falls within the remit of a "flat earther" as I am at least using examples to back my case. Lol !

    Peruvian Chief

You are entitled to your opinion but please don.t be so rude as to question my knowledge

To address a couple of your points – how is it relevant about how well bred the animals are – it is the frequency with which they are being ran that is the question in point

You say that my highlighted horses are owned by bloodstock driven organisations – really – Top Tigress is owned by Mrs Denis Haynes !

If you want a few more examples then look at the following who spring to mind having run off marks in the 60s

Silk and Satin, and Mayolyn of Mr Cecils, Astral Flower and Magnificence of Mr Stoutes, and even Andantino and Waltz of Mr O’Brien.

The only thing that you are correct about, imho, is that they won’t occupy boxes in these yards much longer unless they start to show more.
The reason that these great trainers are in a position to choose not to train poor quality performers is simply due to supply and demand i.e. their services are in demand because of demonstrable and ongoing excellence in how they train their horses

Kent – I take your point about the number of top quality sprint races, and also that Nicholls has trained some top class sprinters. If you re-read my post it stated "champion" not top.

Peruvian chief – thanks for your helpful critique on my post, however we are all entitled to our opinions , sad that you seem to find it ludicrous. If you check the handicap ratings you will find that sometimes even Messrs Cecil and Stoute have to deal with animals rated in the 60s. 2 recent animals that spring to mind are Tymora of Mr Cecils, and Top Tigress of Mr Stoutes. You will note that neither of the great trainers has responded by running them imo an excessive amount of times

If that is the best way to train a sprinter then why don’t top trainers use it to train champion sprinters. Simple answer imho is that they don’t because it isn’t

Sorry to disagree Bluechariot and Burrough Hill Lad, and I do respect your opinions, but you do not see a sprinter from the yards of O’Brien, Stoute, and Cecil running that often (even the less talented inmates) – and there is a reason for that

Agreed Matthew. The poor thing should be given more time between races or a break at some time

Can’t recall a 6 furlong animal trained by Messrs O’Brien, Stoute, Cecil et al running 16 times in 6 months guys – I wonder why. Racing itself is stressful enough but the travelling as well up and down to places such as Hamilton is just imho just greed and too much for a horse

Missed break and dwelt, switched in running, ran on well beaten around 4 1/2 lengths.
What concerns me more is that this is the poor horse’s 16th run in 6 months !

    Hi All
Although certainly never a Fallon fan, I wonder if he is okay at the moment
He, imho, isn’t riding well this season, and as earlier posters have highlighted, he has never been the most gifted in switching hands with the whip. This is further compounded by the fact that he has regularly dropped the thing in races when he has been touched off.
He , as I have previously posted, regularly misses the break, dwelt etc. and this aggravates further
Kieren’s strength, imo, was always his finish, which also seems to be a diminishing factor.
Anyone suggesting he is a tactical genius, imo, is having a laugh.
His list of rides is certainly drying up, especially in top grade racing.
At the start of the season he was encouraging Dettori, to be rivalling himself and Moore over the jockeys championship. That seems a long time ago.

Sorry Yeats but unless I am mistaken Gloucester is actually trained by Michael Scudamore, so Francome was correct

I am really pleased to hear that he has been allowed to bow out gracefully and in one piece.
A thoroughly likeable horse who was as brave as anything. Saw him win at Sandown in February I think it was, and even after all his hard races, be really tried his best all the way to the line.
I hope he has a happy and healthy retirement. Well done to the connections

    Hi All
Just come back from hols, and although not a Fallon fan, I have just seen the ride and thought it was a good tactical ride in a small field.
Always thought that he was strong in a finish, but a tactical genius, never.
Normal service resumed imo on Sonny Parkin in the last at Newmarket tonight – trouble in running, stops horse in its run, then rallies too late. This combined with constant misses of break, dwelt etc is infuriating from him

I have heard Henry Cecil called many things but certainly never dumb. Probably imo one of the greatest trainers ever (and probably the nicest to boot !)
