I would set up a huge marquee just outside the course, with live music, some bookies, a big screen and as many portable toilets as you can muster. Let all the powder sniffers / agressive drinkers in there for £60 and let everyone else get on with enjoying the racing on the course.
They don’t seem that bothered about watching the horses anyway.
I agree entirely with this , as this is the reason why we no longer attend major / weekend meetings.
Apologies to Kendicate , as I am going to try to piggyback one other issue , if I may. Restrict the number of days at the Cheltenham festival , reduce the number of quirky races i.e. cross country , amateurs , hunters, and even handicaps. Contrary to other views , retain grade 1s , at both championship and novice level at 2 and a half miles. It is ridiculous to have nothing for top class experienced , and novices , between 2 and 3 miles plus , whilst still catering for lesser , but still talented horses.Reveley and de Giles have certainly been a success over there , so it doesn’t appear that there is any resistance to using “foreign” riders over there. The fact that she can also claim around 5 pounds allowance in handicaps should also be of assistance.
If she is good enough , then she should be successful. I am a bit surprised that more female riders haven’t tried this before. As illavim correctly states above , Houlihan makes a real fuss of him at the end. Great to see.
From a racing “fans” point of view , this is obviously disappointing.
However , the animal’s welfare must take priority.
Sad ante-post backers ,( on a number of forums /outlets ) need to get a grip .Apparently going to run at either Aintree or Punchestown , but unlikely to be both , according to Henderson and Buckley. Apparently this depends on future tests though.
Sad news.
Condolences to his loved ones.I simply do not understand the abuse that Henderson gets from some.
His priorities have to be to those horses charged to be in his care , by their connections , and then in turn , to those connections.
Everyone knows the risks that they take in placing ante post bets. Don’t blame the
trainer, simply look in the mirror.Mullins is an absolute genius and I am thoroughly in awe of what he has , and is , achieving.
His charges seem to run against each other fairly , and in true competition.
Due to the aforementioned fact , coupled with the fact that I rarely bet nowadays , I don’t find his domination to be boring , just something to be amazed by.Entirely the correct decision , but why doesn’t the disqualification happen immediately to assist punters ?.
Insanity to try and defend the ride from Ms. Sly . We all know the rules , and this isn’t even close. Both are great trainers in my view , but as others have stated , are still inferior to
Mullins , Dickinson , O’Brien and Winter. I think that Henderson is currently operating at a slightly higher level of the two. As he puts the interests of his horses first , and doesn’t give two hoots about what anyone thinks about it , I have chosen him in response to the original question.Agree entirely with Marlingford.
We should also revert back to the novice chase system where newcomers entered at this point , and winners of such events got 3 , 5 , and 7 pound penalties. They all know the rules , and “winning” by breaking the rules is essentially cheating. In my view the decision to disqualify is entirely justified. Once this happens on a regular basis then the incentive to “cheat” is removed. They will all soon learn to count then !.
Well done for highlighting this ERL !.
Thoroughly unacceptable behaviour , and especially from someone charged with looking after animals.
The individual concerned has absolutely no place in the racing industry.
No doubt the racing press will largely turn a blind eye to it , whilst continuing to obsess over their normal pet subjects e.g. the whip / procush.Comes as no surprise. He has always come across as an attention seeking egomaniac.
Let’s hope that the racing media now stop this Frankie’s last farewell BS.
It’s been sycophantic and he has had them all over.
Hope that any monies obtained from this are either paid back , or given to racing charities.
Let’s hope that he stays in the States , and we have to endure no more of this nonsense. Thanks for the info Archipenko.
If that info is available to you , I , and therefore Ms.Doyle , then I was suggest that she was extremely remiss in not checking it out fully , as a licensed professional jockey / athlete.
Perhaps she has been treated as leniently as she could have hoped for ?.Currently in awful form – 1 winner in last 36 rides.
I wonder whether the outcome of this investigation , and the subsequent annoncement have been preying on her mind , and adversely affecting her ?.
It seems unprofessional to me , as LD73 highlights , if not packing her own medications , then to , at least have a translation of some sort performed. Thanks once again HCMW.
