Been well backed for the Cesarewich. Is tomorrow going to be his day? ;o)

I see they are trying again over fences in a limited novice handicap at Exeter.

The more I know the less I understand.

I was interested by trainer’s comments in the RP article

“He’s a very good jumper, but he’s almost too careful over fences. The only reason I’m doing this is because it’s a small field at a track where the fences are beautifully presented. It’s going to be soft ground and I’ve never run him on proper soft ground over fences, while he has to go right-handed; everything is in his favour.”

“It’s desperation stakes,” Moore added. “But we’ve been on some journey with him and he’s been an amazing horse. I don’t think he ever got over what happened in the Triumph to be honest. It might sound stupid, but I was watching a replay of it the other day and you can see how badly hung up he was. I think that’s why he’s got this aversion to going left-handed.

“He looked a very good horse that day and he’s done well since – don’t get me wrong – but I don’t think he’s been the same. I think it left a scar on him somewhere. I’d take 100 horses like him every day, though, and I’ve been too long in the game not to get over what happened at Cheltenham, but I don’t think Jamie has.”

Thanks for that. I wasn’t going to have the racing on today but tuned in to watch the old boy and was shouting him home.

Great to see, plenty of bottle from Goshen and a good ride from the young jockey, who kept him going when many would have accepted defeat. Made my day (and no, I didn’t have a bet).

A rather heartwarming result and pleased for all at the yard – maybe they need to alternate between hurdles and fences to keep him interested.

Great stuff, likewise really pleased for the yard and connections. Goshen is obviously a very sensitive soul so maybe this will boost his confidence. Good to see him battle to the line, and get plenty of congratulatory pats on the neck from his jockey!

As illavim correctly states above , Houlihan makes a real fuss of him at the end. Great to see.

It was a pleasure to see the now nine-year-old Goshen put up such a gutsy performance at Sandown yesterday.

I was there with my daughter, who fell in love with Goshen at first sight in the pre-parade ring, even as I explained the enigmatic so-and-so was as mad as a mongoose.

We put a few quid on him to win; I reasoned that he would either come home first or be pulled up after a mile having spat the dummy.

So naturally, he did neither… but over three miles on filthy going, he made up ground all the way from the home turn and finished an immensely creditable third.

There were lots of disbelieving smiles around the horse as he was unsaddled. You just never know what to expect from him.

But if there was ever a four-mile hurdle going right-handed in a swamp, he’d surely go off a lot shorter than yesterday’s 33/1.

He is entered in Ascots three mile handicap this Saturday as well.

Might not be soft enough for him there.

Thought he ran a good race today , he’s still only 9 and looks to me as though he could do with a real trip ,maybe a Midlands National ?

He might be another Copperhead and be reborn .

He is a must today, imo. The Moore stable have won 4 races from 4 over the last two days at Sandown.
I think today cold be the day. He was 16s ten minutes ago and is 11s right now. He should be worth a small bet.
