Thanks for everyone’s kind input, I always had faith in TRF elite!

I have visited thr vast majority of UK tracks and am hoping to venture into Europe a bit more to see some decent group 1s. France and Germany appear a good starting place and I will look to set some time aside over the BH break to investigate further.

My initial query was merely to establish whether there was such a racecourse travel list (should have specified away from thr UK – my bad!) but perhaps a good idea to set one up, should there be other thrillseekers out there amongst us.

I have managed a few tracks in Ireland, France and the dizzy heights of Meydan but hoping to cross a few more off if possible and assuming the travel is easy enough.

Anyway, apologies if my initial message was a bit vague and I think I just need to put time aside to take a proper look into future venues.

Have a good day everyone :yahoo:

Thanks for coming back so quickly.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am certainly not referencing a travel guide, merely list of the closest port, airport, train station.

There is nothing worse than follow people in as, like you Ian, I like to explore for myself.

For example Saint-Gatien airport is the closest to Deauville Racecourse but I assume its a local airport, as seemingly there are no flights from the UK. I therefore assume its a flight/train into Paris or boat from Dover.

That was more so what I meant re Racecouese Travel but suspect I will just need to find time to review on my own :-)

I had earlier said that WW won the Nunthorpe with Acapulco but he didnt as if memory serves Mecca’s Angel beat him.

    Therefore plenty of unfinished business.

Hopefully he stays fit and its a cracker of a race.

Love hearing these winning stories guys and girls – great news. Keep it up. Im on Palace Pier at 9/4 for the Lockinge but based on my betting luck over the last 18 months he’ll either be pulled tomorrow, run a stinker but hopefully just steam home. The main thing is we’ve got the price (again!) so lets see how it all pans out!!!

A bit boring but I was studying it closely at the time….

Buick and Doyle were retained by Godolphin after moving away from Gosden and Charlton. Buick assigned to Charlie Appleby and Doyler to SBS.

After some time SBS wasnt happy with the set up and said he didnt want Doyle retained anymore but he would still pick up rides for him. That has rarely happened though since the announcement.

In terms of Godolphin mounts, Doyle tends to be Appleby’s number two (as well as ride Johnny G’s Godolphin horses), whereas SBS uses many jockeys (Cosgrave, Stott, Bentley, Murphy, Shepherd, Crowley etc). However, since he has now ‘patched’ things up with Frankie he tends to be his go-to man now (if not riding for JG that is).

Jac probably has some more info for you though as I know she is a big admirer of the boys in blue.

Doyle No Longer Bin Suroor Number One

    Hope that helps :good:

Im with you Tonge, the first question I had was “why now?” especially as the incident was so long ago now. Completely sympathise and feel for Freddy but timing is what surprised me the most.

    Evening all,

I’m like (well actually I am!) a fat kid in a sweetshop with tomorrow’s Meydan card. Here’s my darts to date (all ante post):

    12.50 Secret Investor 11/4 Subjectivist 3/1
    13.30 Space Blues 11/8
    14.05 Soft Whisper 11/1 ew
    14.40 Yaupon 4/1
    15.30 Al Suhail 4/1
    16.10 Mogul 3/1
    16.50 Mystic Guide 5/2

I cannot express enough again how much I love Soft Whisper. She’s up against the boys again but she is some horse. Her win in the UAE Guineas was brilliant and she was unlucky against the boys in the Saudi Derby. I am hoping a return to Meydan, where she is 2 out of 2, will see her to best effect. Some firms are offering 5 places and I will be teary if she doesn’t make the frame.

Good luck all – happy punting :good:

I think I read the other day (could be wrong, or perhaps I dreamt it) that Davy Condon is one of Elliott’s assistant trainers. Maybe he would take over in his absence. Who knows?

I am at the point (like most no doubt) where I just want Friday to come round quickly so we can hopefully end some of the speculation regarding punishment.

How many times has that statement been said about people who commit suicide Tank? You never can tell what goes through peoples heads. Anyway I have said my bit now.

I said yesterday that I wanted to wait to see how things unfold before commenting and its amazing just how much has happened since Saturday night.

I am not one for sitting on the fence so will have my say but I wont be saying anything different to what most have already said.

-The photo is and was greatly disturbing, disgusting, distasteful for many, many reasons.
    – Horse racing generally is in the sh1tter because of it, be that England, Ireland, France wherever, its currently in the public eye for these two acts of stupidity.
    – BHA turned the screw by making their announcement yesterday that Elliott couldnt have any runners in the UK until the outcome was known from the Irish investigation.
    – That is still ongoing.
    – This then led to the horses being moved for those owners who want their horses to run at the festival.

Whilst Elliott may well be a nasty man in and out of racing, at present we only have that one piece of evidence (which is horrifying) to judge/punish him against and it needs careful and correct thought.

Whilst I dont necessarily agree with the move, I think its courageous for Gigginstown (whatever you think of the O’Leary’s) to stick by him (up until time of writing) in a time of great need. Everyone has turned their back (and perhaps rightly so) but they have reached out a hand. For that I applaud because if that was me in that position (not that I would ever hope to be in that place), I would want someone there for me offering some form of support. Whether I deserve it or not.

For those that know me, or read some of my posts, you’ll see how much I love horses and the sport in general. I have no background in it at all. Just merely my late Irish grandfather taking me into a smoke filled betting shop on a weekly basis and then being hooked and facinated by the animals and bright silks charging around.
You will have seen on the Meydan thread only a few weeks ago where I referenced the amazing stable tours available at Meydan and Breakfast With The Stars track events.
I have been to Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson’s yards, whilst also trying to attend every racecourse in the UK. I have been to Dubai, France and Ireland just to watch my beloved four legged friends and would do anything to have attended over the last few months. I am besotted with it all. Not a day goes by where I am not thinking or reading about it.

Moreover, I am sat here now contemplating whether I still want to follow the game. Dramatic, perhaps but like most, I cant unsee those images in my head and whilst I always find myself defending the sport I know and love to many, I have no answers.
As most have said, more potentially comes out and I am not sure I want to be around to see/hear it. I was so looking forward to the Cheltenham Festival but this has just tarnished the whole occassion for me now. A few months ago I feared we wouldnt have any Irish or French runners but now its just complete anarchy to me. I am not sure I want to be around for anything else that potentially surfaces in the next few days and weeks. I really hope my current feelings change, as I have devoted so much time and energy to what I love but right now I feel too deflated.

In closing, the photo (and follow up video yesterday) sickens me but I personally dont wish to see another Caroline Flack incident. Yes, they are completely separate cases but at the end of the day Gordon Elliott is human. Yes, he has fuck3d up and perhaps there is a trail of horrow shows still to be revealed but I dont wish to see any individual potentially lose their life over it, regardless as to how bad the crime(s) is. He will be and should be punished hard and that will hopefully give him a long enough time to consider what he has done and hopefully others in the industry, including him, learn from this.

Love to all and Be Kind

I feel this case still has a few twists and turns yet so ill refrain from commenting until further evidence arises.
