After 30,167 views and 214 pages it’s time to wave goodbye to Meydan Thursdays 2020 and say hello to our new 2021 Thread.
Looking forward to seeing all the usual suspects here and hoping that we can start off with some great tips not just at Meydan but on the AW, Flat and NH in the UK, a little bit of everything to ensure we give those bookies a good bashing.
Thursday 7th January and sees a return to Meydan racetrack Dubai and the beginning of the races leading up to the Dubai World Cup in March. Can’t wait for that.
Also the Godolphin Fantasy League will begin on Thursday 21st January with a chance to select and build a stable of 10 horses and earn points up to the grand finally in March. I’ll start up a mini comp just for fun like last year so that we can discuss our choices and follow the horses as they run.
Best of luck everyone, who will be put up the first winner on our new Thread??

I fell asleep in my chair…. and woke up at ten minutes to midnight!
Checking results and I see your double didn’t work out so well Hopefully Al Boum Photo does the job at Tramore for your TTF.
Meydan competition to look forward to! I might use my lucky pin for that one!
Hope everyone is doing well on this first day of 2021! Stay safe
January 1, 2021 at 15:36 #1515996I see news that Space Blues is due to be back on track, either in Saudi or at Meydan in January.
January 1, 2021 at 17:21 #1516004Great news Nick..love Space Blues hopefully see him at Meydan
Lol Andre at least your body clock was timed to wake up in 2020 the current year at the time not the next.
No the double didn’t do it today but only a fiver down. Sorry that it also didn’t work out for Darren and Graham today but Al Boum Photo put in his 3rd win at Tramore..
Back tomorrow with a few recently turned 3yo’s at Lingfield and Wolverhampton and hope to start getting some points in 3 Horses comp..notice myself, Andre and Graham are struggling at moment with less than 10 points..
Good luck for Saturday.

I had a spot of luck in the system section of the forum today
With it being a new year decided to delve into threads that Billion had started and stumbled upon one from 2014 called “The spirit of Swimbo” only bagged myself a 10/1 winner
I think it was a late Christmas present from old billy boy sent from above
Only thing now is do I continue the thread or get out whilst I’m on top..??Blackbeard to conquer the World
January 1, 2021 at 18:45 #1516019What a great start to your tribute Thread Nathan… 10/1 winner that but for Willy Nilly being a non runner you wouldn’t have looked at… 👍 Well done Bill’s obviously keeping an eye on you.

You ask me to tell you when flat thread up well just done it seen nath there you all welcome and hope let me know your views to
January 1, 2021 at 23:34 #1516068I replied on Bill’s thread Nathan, just thought I’d also say on here
that I’d put some money on it that that was a New Year present from Bill.
See if you can put in a word for me, the way things have been going,
I could do with a bit of a light to follow. On that theme, I was very close to my Aunt Dorothy who died a few years
back, myself and Mrs G were carers for her and took care of her for several
years. I would always put a bet on for her at the Grand National, but that
aside she wasn’t really into horses. She had a great sense of fun, even at
94, and she loved the 2 Ronnies sketch in the hardware store, the 4 candles/fork
handles one. One of the things she left me in her will was 4 candles and a
note in her will that they should guide me to the winning post. On what was
quite a solemn occasion I just roared with laughter. She was a one off.Great to have the new thread up and running Jac, and I’m hoping that I can
find my touch again for Maydan next Thursday, it’s out with the washing at the
moment. I’ll get started looking out a stable for the competition too. So good
to have this back againJanuary 2, 2021 at 00:44 #1516081Nice to have you back Graham and all set to blow those bookies away this year.
I’ve put my 3 Horses compy selections in but feel my reserves will probably win rather than my main selections where I’ve gone for bigger prices.
So I will do 2 separate Patents.Loved the story of your Aunt and her 4 x Candles what a character she must have been always loved that 2 Ronnie’s sketch ..
In 1973 a horse called Red Candle beat a certain Red Rum in a close photo in The Hennessey Gold Cup I suppose that’s an example of a Candle leading the way to a winner especially as Red Rum went onto win 3 Grand Nationals and A Scottish Grand National. Terrific race if you ever get the chance to watch it he won by a whisker. We have a Hardware Shop in Earls Colne a village near us called Fork’andles people are always stopping to take pictures of it..you can Google it.
Good luck choosing your Fantasy stable look forward to getting started at Meydan next week
@darren..
Good luck with your new Thread and your horses tomorrow .. I have popped in for a visit.Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 2, 2021 at 13:20 #1516135Just watched the “Fork Candles” sketch again. OMG – I’d forgotten how funny that sketch was. Great stuff – thanks for mentioning it Graham!
I don’t have a lot of confidence in my picks either Jac. Hopefully they’ll all romp home to get us off to a flying start. With Ayr called off my first reserve is already “in” the three.
Good Luck Everyone!
January 2, 2021 at 14:06 #1516140I know the feeling Andre but today could be the day.
Here is the first of my reserves who I am quietly confident will win even with a huge hike in the weights, he won so easily last time out. Lovely son of Mayson..
2.20 Lingfield.. ROHAAN .. 13/8 best price
Glad you enjoyed watching the Fork Handles sketch again .. that and the Only Fools and Horses sketch where Del Boy, filofax in hand, falls through the bar flap that has been left open are my all time favs..😅😂😂 Maunge Tout Maunge Tout Lol.
Best of luck with your horses today. I’m already one down but I have a 20/1 Nap up my sleeve ha ha
