Hold on Julio for me. Has stormed up the Sandown hill and won on the two occassions he’s run there. Hutcinson and King, Scottish National combo, and blinkers first time might just bring him alive at his favourite course. 12/1 will do me. I think they’ve been planning this one

might have back him to :D

    vf

Good luck vf. Think the PP first 5 each way is the way to go :D

It doesn’ look a very original choice after Rich and Batt’s posts, but i’v been following Hold on Julio for some time now. I backed him at last year,s festival as if he was the certainty of the meeting, I was so impressed with him prior to the meeting I thought he looked an absolute machine, with a change of pace at the end of his races that very few horses show. I was so gutted when he didn’t look the same horse and he has been expensive to follow since.

However, I still, maybe foolishly, think there is a big race in this horse. If he were to come back to anything like his best, I think he would walk this. That takes a bit of a leap of faith, but there is hope, not least because King’s horses seem in rude health and there’s no doubting that Sandown has brought out the best of him in the past. 12/1 I think is a pretty good e/w at 5 places with PP.

So he gets his last chance from me, if he doesn’t get his act together this time I’m giving Findus a call.

That’s a fair assessment BigG and good pointer to the PP offer. But can I ask you, having followed the horse closely over the past year or more, what are your thoughts on the first time application of blinkers by King?

And Blue Bajan must be worth a little each way at a big price

I too like the look of CRY FOR THE MOON. Will stay and act well with the cut in the ground. Trip and ground are not givens for many of the horses today. I think the trainer has aimed him at this since his second in Irish version last year where he was behind a very good horse of Oxx called Minsk (actually runs tomorrow). Had a quiet run at back of field last time staying on at end and will be ready for the job today.

My saver will be Tominator. Potential improvement at this trip and excellent form. New stable might squeeze improvement too

The one for me today is START RIGHT with SDS on board. Fast run race in big fields is just what he wants – excellent record when he gets it. 30 on betfair is too big.

I’m looking at old Nanton for a place. Can run well at this trip and won a decent handicap over shorter this year. It’s rank outsider on betfair and i think it’ll be nearer first than last

I like the look of the one at the bottom, Fathsta, ridden by Sousa. Run very well at the course before, Sousa has a good record on him, and he’s drawn near some fancied runners (- who really knows what the advantage will be today?). Ground won’t be a problem. Is better off at weights with Hoof It, well up there on all Racing Post ratings, so looks cracking value at 25s.

i’ve had an each way on Darkness. Has got a top racing post topspeed figure last time out when McCoy rode him. Was a good horse year or so ago and seems to be at the top of his game – don’t think he’d want it soft though. 40/1 ew is good value to me, albeit you never know about how they take to the fences and he’s not the best jumoer in the world – you never know

I’m backing Tartan bearer. Think first run this year showed tremendous tenacity and will be all the better for that run and should be a better horse today over 2 furlongs further. Its R Moores pick of the Stoute trio and full brother to Golan. It should be favourite.

Also agree that Merlins Dancer must be backed for sprint. Well drawn this year and great speed figure last time. Hope the sun keep shining and ground gets good to firm

i’ve had my main bets on vitznau (14/1), little white lie (12/1) and a small saver on rio riva (20/1), but am now trying to pick out some more value.

i’m coming up with Fremen trading at 27 on betfair and 6.2 a place.

he won really well on good to soft at ayr over a mile, putting up his best speed figure of 96. i think at the weights this is the best speed figure of any horse in the race.

he was then 7th in the cambridgeshire by about 4 lengths and the RP points out that it was making late headway, only to be caught out by the stiff final furlong at newmarket.

he then ran on dirt in dubai, followed by a couple of respectable runs on turf.

He is clearly fit and is drawn in stall 1. when we don’t really know about the draw (probably the argument is just in favour of low on softish ground), i remain interested in horses drawn at extremes i.e. 1, 2, 21, 22.

marb, i think you’ve said it all. a lightly raced horse who didn.t run well in a big field which he faces again on saturday. yes it will be easier over a straight mile, but i still have to have concerns and can’t bet at 8/1

well in terms of betting and money, there is no doubt that RIO RIVA is the one attracting support. i think it has a cracking chance to be placed but can it actually win this year????

    ok rory, thanks.

but this ballotting out thing is slightly confusing when it comes to betfair. i’ve had plenty of bets in the ante post market and if it didn’t run, i lost

so anyone who had a bet on zaahid on betfair in the last 365 days is getting their money back? – don’t believe it!

is the lincoln some sort of special race????

    carvills

find that quite hard to believe. i’m using betfair and would you believe everything that is running is now shorter odds. Unsure of point you’re trying to make?????
