I would love to see Blythe Knight win. He has had a no hurdling campaign to try and keep him fresh for this. Big ask but sure to run well again after he got stuck on the wrong side last year.
Usually wouldn’t consider a trial winner but yhere was mega confidence behind Flipando in the trial which he won.. The only times he has won on grass the ground has be good to firm so there is no question marks there.
Fitness will play a big part tomorrow and there is no question he will strip one of the fittest to go to post.
Good EW bet at 12’s me thinks

Would you really say he’s had a no hurdling campaign on purpose, Aristo?
His run behind Choma Womba all but ended his hurdling campaign due to the serverley poor run.
I fancy him to have a massive chance tomorrow though.
March 28, 2009 at 01:03 #218754My 4 against the field! 1st Zaahid, 2nd Charm School, 3rd Blythe knight
4th Benandonner. I think at 25/1 e/w old Blythe is the best bet for a place
and will be suited by the whole occassion!March 28, 2009 at 01:13 #218757I’m with you GWilson!
I’ve backed Zaahid tonight at 12’s and think your comments the other day have given me a little more confidence about him
March 28, 2009 at 01:47 #218764Zaahid is my selection too. There looks to be at least as much pace drawn low, with the likes of Benandonner, Cobo Bay and Dream Lodge berthed low. The Victoria Cup run looks like the best piece of form in this race. Slight concern he may be a bit better at 7f, though his Haydock win as a 3-y-o and Spring Cup run over 1m suggest he is okay at this trip. His trainer didn’t seem to have him quite 100% fit last year so hopefully will have learnt from that and he knows how to get one ready first time out for this. The yards recent all-weather form suggests he should be ready to go.
March 28, 2009 at 02:42 #218773I gave Chris Catlin some wry stick last Saturday for his ride on
Docofthebay
in the Winter Derby, but that looks a little unjustified in hindsight. It looks like the Dixon plot is out. Nicely handicapped: On his Cambridgeshire form and on his penultimate run in Dubai, (travelled like a dream), he’d walk this race. Loves 1m races (2121322252), stays a bit further ( a crucial point in the Lincoln) and has blinkers on for the first time in an age. Stable is having winners.
In the Spring Mile, I cannot resist a fiver on
Dabbers Ridge
in Trap 1 for McInnes at a massive price. If there’s a better handicapped horse in the race, then please let me know. Only had four runs at a mile and won one of them, placed in another. Could do with an overnight shower though. 66/1 forecast and I might resurrect Gerald’s thread with this.

I wouldn’t have Blythe Knight on my mind for this, even for a place, unless there’s a serious deterioration in the ground. Likewise Expresso Star; now the ground looks like being on the fast side, the drop back in trip is all against him.
It would take close to a weight-carrying record for Swop to win this, but fast ground is unusual for a Lincoln, and his 9-6 much less of a burden than it would be normally. His Cambridgeshire 3rd is as good form as anything in the race, and he may well have improved some since. His trainer apparently thinks so, as he wouldn’t hang on to many 6yo, and he had a serious entry for a gp2 recently in Dubai (balloted out).
8/1 looks a generous price, maybe moreso in the morning, as he’s the kind of horse Tom Segal often latches onto, and he’d be far from the first ‘improver’ to be backed down, before going on to win this race cosily.March 28, 2009 at 04:44 #218800

I really like the look of
Titan Triumph
from stall 24, despite recent assertions on ATR that he’s a different horse on turf. He’s improved beyond all recognition on the all-weather this winter, and William Knight doesn’t seem to think the switch will do him any harm. He was rated similarly on both surfaces last season and I see no reason why that won’t prove to be the case now.
Anything around 20/1 will be playable.
March 28, 2009 at 12:04 #218808Eva’s Request
– Classy enough to win this – A straight mile on fast ground will be perfect – Still on the upgrade – Beaten less than a length by Front House (won a Group 2 next time out, 8/1 for the Sheema today) in Dubai – Front and prominent racers always preferred over the straight mile at Donny but she has a group horse turn of foot. 33/1 ew decent value
March 28, 2009 at 13:41 #218817i think Mia’s boy is a class animal and can run well in this

MAX, what if the "RAPTOR" of old turns up another well handicapped
horse! 50/1 e/w!!March 28, 2009 at 15:33 #218850Looks like i’m one of a select few who thinks Swop can defy the weight and give a good account of himself. Hopefully the ground stays good enough and he can do something in the race.

Graeme, if your horse can reproduce his last run, then you will get a run
and a half for your money! i backed Swop for last seasons Cambridgeshire
at 25/1 and Hughsy rode a stinker to finish 3rd, he should have won! the horse is a miler so the trip and ground have come right for you, even the draw is fine, i just feel that giving Zaahid 9lbs is pushing it! Good luck!March 28, 2009 at 16:28 #218861Backed swop 8/1 despite weight and evas request 40/1and benandonna 14/1 ew savers

March 28, 2009 at 19:43 #218907Just realised this clashes with the Dubai Duty Free
March 28, 2009 at 20:07 #218911Given that, and a little cut in the ground, I wouldn’t look anywhere else for the Lincoln winner.
March 4th – Well done Reet!
March 28, 2009 at 20:14 #218913Expresso Star – Group horse?
We were all so close yet so far with Zaahid! Next time
