Pricewise gave his tip it is Bronze Angel my 2 against the field are
SIR JOHN HAWKWOOD 25/1
Won well at Windsor hated ground when running at Newmarket though he need further that not a bad thing in this race. Can go close.
MUKHADRAM 16/1
Only a maiden winner but ran well this season this trainer has a top record at course with his 3yos in handicaps. and he could train the winner.
September 24, 2012 at 19:46 #414105My 2 are Mukhadram at 12s and an EW bet on Swiftly Done at 33s
September 24, 2012 at 20:10 #414107Given the quantity of rain that has fallen in West Suffolk in the last 36 hours, I would suggest a degree of patience until the likely ground conditions are known. Having said that I think Mukhadram from a mark of 101 looks very reasonably treated on early inspection.
September 25, 2012 at 10:06 #414140Early days yet and waiting to see how ground conditions fair later in week, but have taken the
33/1 on REWARDED (each way)
By Motivator, I believe he represents good each way value, being a course winner who has raced at a high level, will love the present ground conditions and the uphill finish should hold no worries for him.
Although just a 3yo and not yet run against older horses, he finished just a neck ahead of
Mukhadram
in a Group 3 at Ascot (21st June) on Good/Soft over 1mile 2 furlongs with
Grandeur
in 7th place, who then went on to win at Goodwood and then Newbury on the 21st September against older horses with
Burano
and
Fury
4th and 5th.
Fingers crossed
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 27, 2012 at 16:40 #414333We had quite a deluge overnight and there were puddles everywhere when I drove to work this morning. Not much of a breeze today either. I would think the likelihood will be for ‘good’ ground on Saturday.
September 27, 2012 at 17:01 #4143356.00pm and it is raining again.
September 28, 2012 at 21:53 #414473Jack’s Revenge looks a much better animal this season. Only two necks away from coming into this with a hat trick, he has an improving profile, has won on soft and I think there are enough fancied runners drawn low for his 6 box not to be a disadvantage. At 16/1 he will do for a fun punt in a suicidal heat.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 28, 2012 at 22:26 #414478Navajo Chief (50/1) has been running well in some decent events this year, and a strongly run nine furlongs should be right up his street.
Swiftly Done (20/1) has been going the right way this year and was most unlucky in the Betfred Mile last time out. Another who should be suited by this type of contest.
September 29, 2012 at 00:49 #414491Hard to pick just one for this.
Prince of Johanne, and Stevie Thunder filled the first 2 places last year, and wouldn’t surprise me to see them run well again. POJ is obviously a bit higher than least year, but jockey takes 5lb off, and that could make a difference. Been a bit hit and miss lately, but I find him hard to ignore. Stevie Thunder is a very likeable horse, and normally takes in a few of these big handicaps. Would be surprised if he went the season without going close in one of them, get the feeling he may just have been laid out for this. Took 33’s and 40’s respectively, as well as bigger prices on BF.
The two of them look way overpriced, but I’ve not had a bet yet.
September 29, 2012 at 04:57 #4144966.00am in the morning and the skies are as clear as a bell here in Newmarket with no overnight rain. Likely to be perfect racing ground I would think.
September 29, 2012 at 06:12 #414499Hammy, just to let you know that having given a cursory glance to the field and having watched yesterday’s racing, no bet is the call. Too many carefully plotted horses and the draw seemed to offer little further help. The 3yo entries look strong although it takes group class to win from that quarter and their overall winning record is hardly inspiring.
September 29, 2012 at 07:19 #414502Thanks EF fair enough.
I’ll be having a small fun bet on Tryptych’s selection ‘Rewarded’. (And kicking myself for not grabbing the 33/1 when T first mentioned it to me if the horse wins.)
I’ve backed the horse a couple of times this season already and (In my usual uninformed manner.) managed to convince myself that the horse hasn’t had the best of luck in running. I’m not expecting too much success as I cant recall ever backing a winner in the Cambridgeshire. I just hope by backing it I don’t scupper T’s chances.

… the jockey, Ms Milkshake, along with her beau Mr Fallon, was my next door neighbor for a short time a while back.
Having had another look I quite like the look of Postscript too at hefty odds. I’ll probably have an EW bet at 25/1.
September 29, 2012 at 08:26 #414509I’d normally stick to 2 or 3 in this race that have won over the distance. It’s a specialist distance and a win is an advantage. Hoewever, none of the previous distance winners particularly catch my eye this year.
One not yet proven over the trip but hinted last time that he can see it out is ANDERIEGO. close second in 0-110 handicap at Doncaster and that looks decent form to bring forward. Rider is a 7lb claimer I’m not familiar with, but I’ll trust the trainer in this case.
Of the others SWIFTLY DONE has not been over-raced this year, has been in decent form and was a bit unfortunate at Goodwood last time. CHIL THE KITE is another lightly raced sort on the up and should be in the mix.

I suppose as a collector and a voracious reader of the works of Rudyard Kipling I should suggest that Chil the Kite is worthy. Nothing like using sound reasoning to arrive at a selection!
September 29, 2012 at 09:17 #414515I’ve just been to get the barnet trimmed EF and my barber -who cuts the hair of just about anyone who is anyone in racing- tells me that the word in the town is that Mukhadram cannot get beat in the Cambridgeshire.
I’m not sure anything can be such a certainty in the annual cavalry charge, but I expect I’ve done my cash on my earlier selections.
September 29, 2012 at 12:02 #414538Unfortunately worked next to the bookies this morning so blew part of my overtime on Stevie Thunder, Andereigo, Postscript, the French horse and Arabian wotsit [as you can see I’ve studied it in great depth!]. Not a good race for me usually and can’t see that changing much today.
September 29, 2012 at 12:29 #414542The one for me today is START RIGHT with SDS on board. Fast run race in big fields is just what he wants – excellent record when he gets it. 30 on betfair is too big.
