Only a 36-year old, died after a happy 27-year retirement. He had a nice career with 15 wins from 70 runs and never fell.
Rest in peace Bamapour

April 29, 2026 at 17:36 #1765241Not the only Pipe horse to live to a grand old age. I haven’t checked (maybe I shoulda before posting), but I think Bonanza Boy was about 30 and Minnehoma was 29 I think.
April 29, 2026 at 18:56 #1765285Bonanza Boy was one of my favourites. Probably because I used to love watching Bonanza with my dad* and he was a regular in the Grand National.
*a fight has just broken out as Tom used to watch The High Chapparal with his dad, and maintains that it had a better theme tune and was a better programme. Nonsense on both counts.April 29, 2026 at 19:28 #1765298Now this is how I wish it was for all our equine heroes… Bamapour rest easy you were a talented racehorse and deserved such a long rest after all those successful jumps!
