That is the thing Tony, most people thought Klitschko was one dimensional and that he would be easy to pick off, but he surprised alot of people at the weekend (myself included). Even though Lewis was clearly nowhere near his best, Vitali’s speed and awkwardness i’m sure would have caused a peak Lewis quite a few problems.
A smaller version of Vitali would be easy to pick of, but it is obviously the mans sheer size and physique that causes opoents problems.
I would need to sit down and watch the tape again to refresh my memory on the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds, but the first two without a doubt were deservedly Vitali’s, the third definate’ly goes to Lewis. I was to caught up in the action to score the remainder of the fight.
If you have it on tape, take a look at the minute interval between rounds 3 and 4. Vitali’s cutsman really made a mess of that cut with the towel. He rubs it across Vitali’s face and rips the cut wide open. You get a great view of this. The cut was one of the worst cuts i had ever seen anyway, but it was made alot worse by that towel. Check it out!

I agree Tony that Wladimir is the more technically gifted. But both mens chins were untested until recently, and Wlads proved to be made of crystal, where as Vitali showed last night that his is pretty solid. He took some big shots but just kept on comming.

I did not enjoy watching the fight last night, Lewis looked a shadow of his former self. He seemed to have no game plan and although i never thought he was truley hurt he looked absolutely knackered. His defense was rotten, he was almost allowing himself to be hit at times. His jab was almost non existent and his right hand was wild. That was not the Lewis we know!

It is impossible to say who would have won had the fight been allowed to go on, but i would have to have gone with Lewis. He was starting to get to Vitali and he landed his two best punches in the sixth round. He looked absolute’ly drained going back to his corner after the sixth, but Vitali looked in a far worse condition. It took Vitali around ten seconds just to get back to his stool!!!

I am certain there will be a rematch, i doubt Lewis will leave it at that. I think the key to Lewis winning is the straight right hand. Thats the punch that Sanders used to lay out Wald and i think if Lewis was to catch Vitali with a straight right it could be lights out for him. He caught Vitali with a couple of left jabs flush on the nose and he was visably rocked by them.

Lewis will definate’ly be in better shape for the rematch. He must get his weight down and i am sure he will. Its going to be a cracking build up, i just hope we see some of the old Lewis.

I have to go with Lewis again, but i wont be confident.

I did not see Vitali’s last fight, but i am wondering wether you are perhaps mixed up between the two Klitschko brothers?

Wladimir was exposed badly in his last fight against Corrie Sanders, he was dropped 3 or 4 times before the ref stopped it during the second round.

Vitali is Wladimir’s older brother and that is who Lewis is fighting. I expect Lewis to win this fight quite comfortably, but it would be wrong to write of Vitali’s as a no-hoper. His KO record speaks for itself, 32 fights, 30 KO’s. He has never really fought anyone of note, other than Chris Byrd where he pulled out in the tenth round due to a shoulder injury. But he has looked impressive, he is a man mountain, and he is a bit of an unkown quantity. Just because Wladimir has a glass jaw does not mean Vitali also has a glass jaw, his punch resistance should be judged on its own merrits.

Personally, i cant wait for this fight. In my opinion it is the only real fight out there for Lewis right now. I am glad Johnson pulled out now that Vitali has been lined up. This makes for a much more exciting fight.

I think we may witness another Micheal Grant scenario here but i hope not, i would like to see the fight go a few rounds. I think Lewis will dominate here, i dont expect to many scares along the way. This should be a comfortable win for Lewis.
But, he is 37 now and has been inactive for over a year! You never know, he has been laid out twice before by Rahman and McCall unexpectedly. I cant see that happening here but then, this is boxing, this is what makes it exciting, you just never know!
My prediction, Lewis inside 4

I need to pay more attention, i was thinking Jon got around 7 or 8 nominations last week!!! Still, i am certain he will get at least 4 this week.

I don’t think Nush will be up for the vote this week….. I doubt any of the girls will nominate her, and i cannot see Fed, Ray or Scott nominating her. She also gets on well with Cameron so she is pretty safe in my opinion.

There could possibly be four up for the vote this week. If Cameron is up i think he would need Sissy up there with him to give him any real chance of surviving, if she is not up with him i think he would have to be made favourite for the chop.

25/1 about Cameron getting kicked out this week has to be worth a bet!

It is hard to know who will be wise enough not to waste one of there votes on Jon, leaving others to put him up for eviction. Maybe none of them?

With two girls already being kicked out i think the majority will use there votes on the guys, the girls definitely will. Assuming everyone uses one vote on Jon, i think at least 3 will use there other vote on Cameron. I doubt Fed, Scott and Ray will nominate a girl, and Cameron looks the likely target for there other vote.

The only three people i rule out of voting for Cameron this week are Steph, Nush & Jon. I think he is fair game for the rest of the group!

If he does get put up for eviction he will almost certainly be up with Jon, and probably Federico……….. if so, chances are Cameron goes. I think the bosses at C4 would rather Jon and Federico stayed, and that would definately not be good for Camerons chances of surviving the vote!

At 25/1 he has to be worth a punt for this weeks eviction!!!
I cant see Spok winning.

He will almost certainly topple Justine in this weeks vote, but if or when he comes up against Federico, or any of the totty in the house, i.e Tania & Nush, he will go.
Jon will no doubt be up for eviction every week, and i reckon Federico and/or Tania could be alongside him next Friday.

You have to give Hatton some credit Jim, sure’ly?

Hatton can definate’ly beat some of the top ten guys, but there are a few out there i believe with the skills to exploit his rotten defence. I would take Gatti, Tyszu & Judah to all do that, i also think Mickey Ward would out muscle him, but he retires after his next fight with Gatti anyway so thats not going to happen.

Hatton does have a good chance against any of the above, there is no doubt about that. He may lack one punch KO power, but his superhuman workrate far makes up for that. Hatton is pure entertainment, he is exactly what most fight fans want to see, at least every now and again. I would love to see him lift a world title, and it looks like he may just do that very soon. It is looking like the WBC will strip Tyszu of his belt for not facing his mandatory challenger Branco, Hatton is rated #2 by the WBC so that would leave him and Branco to fight for the vacant title. I have yet to see Branco fight, but from what i hear Hatton would take care of him.

Hatton was beggining to look like a bit of a comfort zone fighter, but the ambition is definate’ly there, he wants it and wants it bad. He is desperate to prove himself and Warren will not be able to hold him back much longer. The light-welter division is probably the most talented division in boxing today, Hatton really has his work cut out and i do not see him ruling this division, but he is definate’ly a major force in it and will be no easy task for any of the top ten guys.

Vince Phillips was old, but he has proved he can still mix it, he went the distance with Sharmba Mitchell in his last fight, only loosing on a split decision. Mitchell is highly rated and Hatton made an easier job of it than he did. Mitchell v Hatton could happen after Hatton v Branco if Hatton gets that fight. I seee him winning that. I would also take Hatton to beat the likes of Ben Tackie, i would give Hatton a chance of beating any of the top ten guys in fact. I think Gatti and Judah pose a bigger danger to Hatton than Tyszu does. Tyszu is a class act, but styles make fights and i think Hatton would fare better against him than he would against the likes of the hard punching warior Artouro Gatti.

Junoir Witter, who the **** is he! As Hatton says, he is a boil on his arse. He has made his name on the back of Hattons success, he has fought nobody of any note, apart from Zab Judah, and anyone who seen that fight will no that Junior Witter is a little shi*ter. He ran all night from Judah, he stank the joint out and showtime swore never to show another of his fights again. But with Hatton v Witter going to be huge in the UK they decided to show him on Saturday night. Now Hatton v Witter is looking unlike’ly, with Hattons bad cut and the possibility of him getting a shot at the vacant WBC title. I was never keen on this fight anyway, Witter will do nothing for Hatton’s reputation or world rating. Witter needs Hatton though, but i hope he does not get him.
It looks like he may face Demarcus Corley, the WBO champ. If he wins that fight, and Hatton wins the WBC belt, it would make their match up even bigger over here, at least then Witter would have earned the right to fight Hatton.

Like A Butterfly is my pick for the race. A bit of cut in the ground would obviously play more to her liking. I am not over confident, but she is my chioce. I am confident of her running a big race though and she is a sound chioce for my place-pot. I agree with Daylight on Rhinestone Cowboy, i just could not back this horse. He has looked the buisness to date, but i think this is to much to ask of him. Could run a sound race but i dont see him finishing in the first three.

Great to hear she’s done the buisness for you, i missed the race, did’nt log on here until after the Ireland game. By the sounds of it she won pulling a cart, i hope the handicapper goes easy on her.

This may seem obvious now but Tony Martin is definate’ly one to keep an eye on. My old man was pointing him out to me a few years ago, he put me onto him when he was still a bit of a dark horse, he definate’ly brought a smile to our faces on more than one occasion. With these gambling stables i think you have to pay close attention to what they are up to and try and judge for yourself what their plans are……… the money may be going down, but is it theirs, or is it a case of a few backing the horse and everyone following suit thinking its a big coup.

They obviously had a ‘Plan B’ but to suggest it was pulling him up in front of the stands is rediculous. I’m sure ‘Plan B’ was if Istabraq is not travelling well then pull him up. If he becomes injured then pull him up. To suggest they would risk the horse in order to get a standing ovation is madness. Charlie Swan said he was’nt travelling well after jumping the first, he waited until he jumped the second to see if the better ground would improved his action but it did not, so he pulled him up.

Escorial, i think your clutching at straws here mate. You say that it was impossible to tell that Istabraq was in trouble until he had jumped the second hurdle……….. then i say your ability to read a race stinks. Shortly after jumping the first it was clear their was something amiss with Istabraq, his head movement told the whole story. I assume you have the race on tape, so go watch it, stop zooming in on what Aidan O’Brien is doing and pay attention to the horse in question.

Add to that Charlie Swans comments after the race (which you seem happy to ignore) and it is obvious to almost everyone but yourself that you are talking through your rear end on this one.
