Sounds like you’re marked up as a good judge, Steve! You’re a straight punter and presumably winning, so there’s a good chance they’re taking note of your bets, especially ante-post.

A couple of thoughts from Leicester:

    – Westerland probably the third-best horse in his race and a fortunate winner

    – Prince Ahwahnee a very very good horse, a NAP for his next maiden and definitely a group horse

Forgot to mention on my last trip to Newmarket. 20th May, a Richard Hannon filly TAJAANUS caught the eye in the paddock and although running green she won her race well and looks a likely prospect for future 2yo races this season.
Look out for Mark Jonhston’s Villa Tora running in the 2.00 at Hamilton tomorrow she ran 1/2 length and a nose third to Tajaanus with Richard Fahey’s Queen Penn (entry in 2yo trophy) filling 2nd place.
Very short price at around Even money but interesting to see if VILLA TORA wins and franks the form. :rose: Jac

De Bruyne Horse shaped like a really smart colt today, a powerful looking galloper. Connections were reluctant to run him here en route to the Coventry, thinking it would come to soon on only his 3rd start. Can’t see why they would regret coming now. He’s been cut to 12/1 for his efforts.

A nicely bred Godolphin runner entered at Haydock this week.

Being There is by Dubawi out of Beauty Parlour.

Beauty Parlour won the French 1000 Guineas and then didn’t quite get home when warm favourite for the Prix Diane. She was an exciting transfer to the great Henry Cecil (Gentleman and Genius) but it never quite worked out for her.

Being There is entered up in the 6.50 Haydock Friday and James Doyle is booked to ride. The February foaled colt is also entered in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh in August and the Epsom Derby.

Being There was a movie starring the late Peter Sellers as a simple gardener mistaken for a political analyst. Hopefully this horse can live up to his role as a well bred prospect, rather than end up running in sellers.

    6.50 Haydock Friday Being There

    Be there, or be square.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Stan James are 33’s on Clemmie according to oddschecker.
I say according as it’s not like them to be bigger than anyone else
I’m sure they will go blue as soon as a pound goes on

BFSB opened up at 33’s for Clemmie. Had a bet on her for that. Been cut into 4’s for the Chesham as well.

I backed De Bruyne Horse as soon as betting emerged for the Woodcote. I got 5/2 on him. I thought Cardsharp looked a 5F horse and I never trust the consistency of the Johnston runners. We saw how Permian ran a real chalk and cheese race in the Derby and that is typical of this stable that I can never get a handle on trusting.

De Bruyne horse ran out a good winner and he has been backed in to the same odds as stablemate Denaar, on 7/1 now. Buratino did the Woodcote/Coventry double and De Bruyne Horse is a promising sort. I did toy with him at 12/1 but I think I will just let Denaar go into bat solo, at 20/1.

Another 2YO that I like is Beckford, from the Gordon Elliott yard. A son of Roger Charlton’s sprinter Bated Breath, Beckford made an excellent start to his career at The Curragh in a 6F maiden. There was a big field of 16 runners for that race and Beckford was drawn 4, perhaps the reason for the jockey to spend the early part of the race heading across to the middle of the field.

In the race itself Beckford starts to try to take closer order but the horse in the blue colours starts moving across and then one from the other side in green and white comes in from that side. Rather than become the meat in the sandwich, the jockey aborts the move and drops back slightly, briefly getting into some minor scrimmaging.

The jockey waits to get a clear run at it and then starts travelling up going well on Beckford, looking the likely winner, travelling best. Just for a moment it looks like he might have flattered to deceive but he knuckles down and comes home in command, looking like a good prospect for the future.

I like the way this horse travels and he looks talented to me. Entered up in some top juvenile races, he earned a RPR of 87. He looks a shoo-in to me to exceed 100 in ability and two winners have come from his race since. More importantly there are horses in behind him who went to finish 2nd to Brother Bear and True Blue Moon, both unbeaten and Brother Bear is Fav for the Coventry.

I will be keeping a strong eye on Beckford, as Brother Bear is rated 102 and True Blue Moon 93 by the Racing Post.

September was a facile winner at leapordstown for ballydoyle. Over 7 furlongs scooted up and being by deep impact and peeping fawn is bound to go even better over longer. Hugely exciting prospect.

You can say that again Mickey, not many of them win first time out, and boy she was impressive. Backed her for the Guineas after that. Very exciting that one ;-)

A full sister to Gleneagles named Happily was in the same race and finished 10l back in 7th, but was in no way disgraced. She’s only going to improve for the run and she’s one to watch next time out I reckon.

Elliot must think there’s money to be made in this flat business, he’s got several nice looking types this year. Beckford as you say looks promising, but one I really liked was Monkeylou. He’s by Dream Ahead, joint Champion 2yo of 2010, and Champion 3yo Sprinter 2011. Was very impressive on his debut in Listowel over 6f, a little bit green maybe but he accelerated well to score by 2 and a half lengths. Highly doubtful either of these two go to Ascot, but they could be ones to watch for the Pheonix.

I’d be thinking 10f – 12f in time, maybe an Oaks type
Having said that I thought the same of Promise to be True, what has happened to that horse…?

Having said that, Gleneagles has had many full siblings and most have been muck.

I looked at that race last night and promptly forgot all about it. Will catch up with that one later.

    Not so sure about that!
Happily has just three older (all full) siblings apart from Gleneagles:
    Marvellous won the Irish 1000G
Coolmore won a G3 and was placed in a G1 in the US
Taj Mahal was beaten just 1.5L in the G1 Prix du Jockey Club last weekend.
