A 6F 2yo maiden at Navan tomorrow and Ballydoyle have dug deep and shelled out 2.6 Million dollars for the War Front colt Declarationofpeace and he lines up favourite for this contest.
So far the War Fronts have been promising at 2yo but not converting on often big price tags when turning 3yo.
SkyBet are best priced at 6/4 this evening on the expensive horse who lines up in the 4.25 opener at Navan. The colt wears a tongue tie on debut, which some have said means they are out to win with him on debut.
Joseph supplies a danger with the Lope De Vega colt Medal Of Honour, who wasn’t cheap at 340,000 Euros.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 24, 2017 at 13:09 #1298110Was going to mention this Steve just seen card for tonight if he wins no shock if Coventry be race for him when you think that War front has very good record there.
April 24, 2017 at 14:09 #1298117Sioux Nation and Mount Wellington both entered up at Navan on Monday
Where did you get those entries Nathan?
They must have been out of date.
Mount Wellington ran last Friday at Dundalk and was thumped as 1/2 Fav in a five runner race where he was third, beaten 4 and a quarter lengths. He looked like he needs 6F already.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 24, 2017 at 20:55 #1298150As one might expect of a colt costing more than two million dollars, Declarationofpeace looked the part as a big son of War Front with plenty of substance about him.
In the race he had a good position and travelled pretty well all the way. Approaching the 2 furlong pole it started to look as if he might make a winning start but then it seemed that Jessica Harrington’s Brick By Brick might be hard to reel in and so it proved. Ultimately it was Romanised, who had been short of room in behind at the 2F pole, who came through to reel in both Declarationofpeace and, having looked unlikely at the furlong pole, also Brick By Brick.
Declarationofpeace ended up 3rd, beaten two lengths but plenty of Aidan’s good 2yo’s have lost their first race. It is highly likely he will win next time and then progress as the season goes on.
The video of the race is here:-

I think Romanised has done well to win from where he was. If you watch the video right through to the head-on you can see the jockey with no run at the 2F pole and it takes him from there to the 1F pole to get the horse in the clear. He looks likely to finish second but manages to mow down Brick By Brick late on.
Joseph O’Brien’s Medal Of Honour was third best in the betting at 7/1 but never got involved at all, he may as well have stayed at home.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 24, 2017 at 21:12 #1298153Yes I’ll be very surprised is Declarationofpeace doesn’t end up at Royal Ascot, looks to have plenty of substance
could be a good bet for coventry/norfolk but doubt the markets are up yet
April 24, 2017 at 22:33 #1298160They were on the ATR Website Saturday night, I went to have a proper look yesterday and they were gone.
I’ve added Sioux Nation to my horse alert tracker now so hoping to get a buzz soon.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 27, 2017 at 22:21 #1298567O’Brien has a few interesting ones entered on Monday 1st of May at Naas.
Probably the most interesting is the colt U S Navy Flag he is by War Front out of Misty For Me, which makes him a full brother to Roly Poly.
In the same race Aidan has another War Front colt called War Ensign. His dam is Ventura, who was the dam of Freddy Head’s Moonlight Cloud who was very classy in her day.
Earlier on the same card Aidan has a Declaration Of War filly, out of a Gulch mare, entered in a 6F maiden. She is called Actress and she is a very early January 12th foal. You would hope these will be quite sharp types.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 7, 2017 at 11:19 #1299834Steve what your view on Alpha Centauri who won 6f maiden also a 6f maiden and Leopardstown as well today.
May 9, 2017 at 00:32 #1300101I didn’t see Alpha Centauri yet Darren. I’ll check him out.
Richard Hannon had a sharp looking sort at Chelmsford. It’s not an exciting track but Denaar did it very nicely.
A 300,000 Guineas son of Acclamation he had a good start and was prominent, stuck to the rail. As he was asked to quicken about a furlong and a half out he came away from then readily but was a bit green, drifting to the right before being guided back the way, almost exactly to the distance he was from the rails originally. There should be a lot more to come from this horse. I would imagine one more race and then aimed at Royal Ascot if he takes a step forward next time.

A very smart debut was made by the recently acquired DENAAR at Chelmsford in the 2yrs Novice Stakes. The son of Acclamation was bought at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale for Al Shaqab Racing and matches a very similar profile to last year’s two year old star MEHMAS. ‘He was a standout at the sales and I thought after last year’s success we had to have him. His profile is very similar to Mehmas and he looks a lot like him. This was a very promising debut and he should improve again for the run. The options will be either Newbury or Sandown after this. His work has been very impressive at home and he is one to keep an eye on this season.’

May 12, 2017 at 10:21 #1300442Declarationofpeace came on as impressively as expected in a Dundalk maiden two days ago. He is a big, imposing type, looks a proper sprinter. His competitors looked like yearlings beside him. I’d imagine it will be this typically prococious son of War Front who will follow in the footsteps of Caravaggio, rather than Sioux Nation.
Looks a good bet for the Coventry.

I thought he might go to Sandown next Nathan, for the Listed National Stakes. Tiggy Wiggy and King Of Rooks were winners there and Mehmas was runner up last season. The Hannon’s have won 9 of the last 20 runnings of the race

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 16, 2017 at 20:02 #1301054Denaar down to run at Newbury next Steve on Saturday unless they pull him out

May 16, 2017 at 23:11 #1301072Full sisters to Churchill, Winter and Gleneagles all entered to run at the weekend in a 5f maiden race, and also in a 5f Listed race.
May 17, 2017 at 14:43 #1301117The 3.00 Navan on Saturday sees the full sister to Winter have her first entry. She is called Chariot. Butterscotch is in the same 5F 2yo maiden race and she is a full sister to Puppetshow, who was described as “exciting” last autumn but she is still a 79 rated maiden after 5 starts.
On Sunday, the 3.45 Naas sees those same two entered, along with the full sister to Churchill, called Clemmie and the full sister to Gleneagles, called Happily. The race is actually over 6F and is Listed. It looks a tough starting point for the newcomers, with previous winners this season also in there. Cuff won it last year before suffering a career ending injury in the Albany at Royal Ascot, where she carried my nap that day.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 17, 2017 at 17:28 #1301157Yes, it’s just interesting that they have these early entries. One of them will probably run with a view to running at Royal Ascot, possibly in the Chesham.
Saying that, Aidan also has Somerset Maugham entered this weekend, interesting because that was Churchill’s original name but changed just before he ran. So, apparently not considered quite good enough for him, but a name reserved for a good colt nevertheless. Then again, maybe he wasn’t considered good enough for the nameMay 18, 2017 at 21:01 #1301309Paddy Power have Fairyland 9/2 for the Albany
