I hope thread followers had Denaar at 2/1 today, he ultimately won cosily.
Denaar was introduced into the Coventry betting at 20/1.
James Willoughby on ATR was very negative on Denaar before the race, stating that the colt would be unlikely to settle, however, Denaar sat nicely and ended up finding that bit more at the business end, having enough in hand for Frankie to ease him close home.
Nice performance given the price drift through the morning and right up to off time. Muggins here took 15/8
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 20, 2017 at 20:53 #1301661I was at Newbury today Steve and around the pre parade ring the other Hannon horse Rogue lived up to his name making a right racket of neighs and lifting his front legs up in the air, a few of the other horse seemed a bit uneasy with this and were either backing away or speeding up apart from Denaar who didn’t batter an eye lid. He was very relaxed and I was surprised to see the drift. I missed the start of the race as I was chatting up Francesca Cumani so will have to catch the replay. Here’s a few photos of him.

May 21, 2017 at 15:52 #1301729Alpha Centuari tore her field to shreds today.
It seems sure the huge filly will be a very warm order for Royal Ascot. The Albany looks the obvious target. She has such a physique that you would probably think Wesley Ward was the trainer!

May 22, 2017 at 16:31 #1301831I am hoping to see Folk Tale this week. He holds several entries. Godolphin have had some promising sorts out already and Folk Tale is supposed to be highly regarded.
A son of Dubawi, out of a Giant’s Causeway mare, Folk Tale is entered in both the Phoenix Stakes and The Derby.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 25, 2017 at 14:51 #1302047Folk Tale made his debut today and was much less fancied than the other Godolphin runner Masar, who was 5/2 Fav. Folk Tale was 9/1.
Folk Tale pulled hard and was held up at the back. He made headway to finish 4th, narrowly missing third. Favourite Masar scrambled home narrowly from Invincible Army, woth the pair about three lengths ahead. This would have been a sharp enough test for a Derby entry and I reckon 7F will be next for Folk Tale.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 26, 2017 at 18:05 #1302157Clemmie, full sister to Churchill, declared as 5/2 favourite for a 6f maiden in the Curragh tomorrow. She is one I will watch carefully, but she certainly wont be carrying my money first time out. As a matter of interest, have their ever been any full brothers/sisters of high profile horses, that lived up to the standards of their siblings?

Clemmie is already Fav for a race at Royal Ascot. I think I would rather just watch tomorrow.

Really, which race is that? I can’t see her in the betting at all for the Albany, Queen Mary, or even the Chesham.

It’s the Chesham, Voleur. She is 8/1 Favourite with Paddy Power. They are the only firm offering odds at the moment.

May 26, 2017 at 20:24 #1302172Churchill’s sister and Winter’s sister entered in the maiden, ‘two smashing fillies’ according to Aidan. They will get nice educational introductions tomorrow.
May 27, 2017 at 01:08 #1302201Aiden had a very good winner in murillo a couple of days ago. Finished really well and looks very speedy as he should be being out of scat daddy. Likely to run at royal Ascot.
May 27, 2017 at 14:20 #1302322Clemmie made a promising start. The rains had come at the Curragh and conditions looked a bit unpleasant. She was at the back most of the way and seemed to be struggling but she started to stay on and coming down by the rail I thought she was picking up well enough to win it but she couldn’t quite get there. In the end she was 3rd, only beaten by a head and the same.
She seems sure to go off short if tackling another maiden and this was an excellent effort in the circumstances, given that there seemed little confidence for her today as a drifter to 5/1 in the betting.
Snowflakes was disappointing, 13th of the 15 runners.

Agreed, Clemmie couldn’t have been much more encouraging in defeat. I didn’t catch any of the trainer’s post-race comments, but is it obscene to believe she will go straight to the Chesham? Paddy Power have shortened her into 6s anyway.
May 27, 2017 at 14:42 #1302330Clemmie was a tad unlucky as she didn’t get out very fast.
The Chesham would make sense up in trip and the same race Churchill took inGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 27, 2017 at 14:46 #1302331Based on that one run she looks a carbon copy of her older brother anyway, in terms of looks, movement and racing style. Whether she turns out as good is another story altogether.

May 27, 2017 at 15:06 #1302334Brother Bear ran on an impressive winner to confirm the form against Sioux Nation. The latter broke very slowly and didn’t seem to handle the ground at all, but I think the winner is without a doubt the better colt. 12/1 is still floating around for the Coventry which seems generous, but I’m happy with Declarationofpeace at 8/1 at this moment in time.
